Dancing Girls

.

The "Fire" girls softball team is no longer. We were dedicated to the advancement of girl's youth softball in the Western New York area. Our team was comprised of girls from thoughout the area and played against teams from both the Western New York area and from outside New York State. Our team was developed in 2002 as a 10 & U team and won two tournaments that year including one in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and were also Division Champs and Playoff Champs in the Metro Girls Softball League 2002. The 2003 season brought the team up to 12 & U and welcomed 7 new members. We finished our 2003 season by winning a tournament in Woburn, Massachusetts. We competed against some top ranked teams and played some terrific softball. Our other accomplishments included being the Division Champs in the 12 & U Metro Girls League with a record of 13 wins and 1 loss. Our overall record was 35 wins and 9 losses. We competed in 5 other tournaments during the season at Evans, Lou Gehrig, Victor, Saugerties, and Connie Mack and were crowned champions in Victor and came in 2nd place at the Connie Mack Tournament in Amherst.

In 2004 we played in the Metro Girls Softball league and came in 4th place with a 8-4 record. Being a first year 14U team we had many challenges that year. We participated in five tournaments as well as traveling to East Peoria, Illinois for the NSA World Series from July 25 - August 1, 2004. Free WordPress Blog HostingSearch Engine

In 2005 our team was comprised of 11 talented and dedicated girls who love to play softball. Many of the girls played their third season together and our second year playing 14U. We came in 3rd place in the 14U Metro League and in our first year playing NFL we came in 5th place. We played 58 games this year playing in the Metro and Niagara Frontier leagues as well as six tournaments (Evans, Lancaster, Lewiston, Canandaigua, West Seneca and Woburn, Ma). We were Champions in the Lewiston Tournament and came in 3rd at the Pride Tanner Tournament in Woburn, Ma.

Our final season came to an end in August, 2006. We started our season winning the Mel Ott Tournament in June and ended our season coming in 2nd place at the Connie Mack tournament. Lot of blood, sweat and tears in between these two tournaments. We played in 6 tournaments this year, starting with Mel Ott, Victor, NY, Lancaster, Shenandoah, Pa., Lou Gehrig (one game only the rest were rained out) and Connie Mack. We played in the Metro and NFL leagues and our overall record was 21-26-1. Many of the games we lost we came up short by one run. Our players played with heart, spirit and team work and fun. Our coaches encouraged and promoted teamwork, good sportsmanship, sound fundamentals and friendships that will be everlasting.

See ya.........
