Filly's Gold (So Cal): Welcome
|
Filly's History & Mission Statement
Fillys Gold was formed in September of 1999, when our previous travel team, Crossfire, merged into the Fillys organization. The move strengthened both clubs solidifying the future of the team for many years. The following year Bill Malcolm joined the Fillys organization after many very successful seasons at the helm of Aftershock.
The Fillys established themselves as an upper echelon team in 2000 qualifying for the Gold Nationals held in St. Louis, Mo. The following year 2001 the Fillys again qualified for the ASA Gold Nationals held in Marietta, GA. The Fillys didnt fare as well in 2002 as we were unable to qualify finishing sixth in two tournaments when only the top five qualify. We rebounded in 2004 qualifying for the ASA Gold Nationals once again held in Marietta, GA
We are attacking the 2009 season with fresh faces, a new attitude, and new team slogan; WE LOVE TO WIN WE JUST HATE TO LOSE MORE. Our off season work should ensure our return in August to the 2009 ASA Gold Nationals in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
All of us in the Fillys organization take pride in the fact that we have placed many players in top Universities. We have players in all divisions I, II and III and when needed the best Colleges. In the past few years many of our players have gone on to play softball for many of the top Universities. We have players currently playing at the University of Arizona, University of Washington, University of Notre Dame, St. Johns, Cal State Bakersfield, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach, University of Western Kentucky, University of Hawaii-Hilo, Stanford, Chapman University, University of Central Michigan, University of Redlands, University of Florida and some of the top JCs Arizona Western in Yuma, Fullerton College in Southern California and Midland in Texas.
I hope this introduction to our Fillys Gold team will help you to evaluate the team, its players and the level at which they play. We try to instill in our athletes that there are no secrets to success; it is the result of their preparation and hard work.
