DIVISIONS

Please use the definitions below to choose the best division for your player. The age references below are based on Little League age.  Your players Little League age is the age of your player on December 31, 2008.  Only girls can register for Fastpitch.

Minor B.  This introductory division is intended for those who have completed at least one year of T-Ball and are between the LL age of 6 to 9.  The emphasis is on the fundamentals, throwing, catching and batting.  FMELL utilizes the use of a pitching machine during the practices and the games for hitting.  A tryout is suggested to prepare the players for the next level of play, but is not required.

Minor A.  This level is intended for those who have completed at least one year of Minor B and are between the LL age of 8 to 11 (Please Note:  All 8 year olds must have played one year of machine pitch in order to tryout for this division).  At this level, the players have had an introduction to the fundamentals.  At the Minor A level, a higher level of skill is involved whereby players are able to perform the basic skills routinely.  In addition, players are pitching to the opponent at this level.  Some basic strategy is utilized to create interest in Fastpitch. A tryout is required at this level.

Majors.  This level is intended for players who have experienced success at the Minor A level, are between the LL age of 9 to 12, and represent the best talent in FMELL.  Typically, players have had at least one year of Minor A experience and have had the opportunity to participate in the District 10 All-Star Tournament.  At this level, more strategy is involved and more focus is needed from each of the ballplayers.  A tryout is required at this level.

Juniors.  This level is intended for players who have experienced success at the Majors level, are between the LL age of 13 to 14, and represent the best talent in FMELL.  Typically, players have had at least two years of Majors experience and have had the opportunity to participate in the District 10 All-Star Tournament.  At this level, more strategy is involved and more focus is needed from each of the ballplayers.  A tryout is required at this level.

Seniors.  This level is intended for players who have experienced success at the Juniors level, are between the LL age of 15 to 16, and represent the best talent in FMELL.  Typically, players have had at least one year of Juniors experience and have had the opportunity to participate in the District 10 All-Star Tournament.  At this level, more strategy is involved and more focus is needed from each of the ballplayers.  A tryout is required at this level.

The Fastpitch division of FMELL interlocks with District 10.  This means that we travel beginning at the Minor B level to the older divisions.  Travel consists of going to Kent, Auburn, Soundview, Southhill, Bonney Lake, Federal Way, and Tahoma.

The Fastpitch division has a long and storied tradition of success.  Currently, we have had a team from FMELL participate in the State tournament for 7 consecutive years!!!  It is the intent of the division, from the top down, to continue this history into the future.  With your involvement, both players and coaches, we can achieve this goal.
