The Farmington Hills Yankees include 12 boys who have played recreational, tournament and/or travel baseball in the past. All have realized great success in recent years and now look forward to a more challenging baseball experience.
In order to enhance their love of the game, help them succeed and prepare them for high school baseball and beyond, players will be continually reminded of the following team principles:
Health, safety and injury prevention are always our primary concerns. The importance of nutrition, hydration, stretching, physical conditioning and protective equipment will be stressed. Proper hitting, baserunning, pitching and defensive skills will be taught and pitch counts will be closely monitored.
Academics and family commitments are more important than baseball.
Baseball should be fun and exciting. We want the boys to enjoy playing and look forward to the next practice, game or tournament.
Coaches, players and family members will “respect the game.” Fair play and good sportsmanship will be observed at all times.
Baseball is a team sport. All victories and defeats will be shared by the team and not attributed to individual players. The boys will be good teammates on and off the field.
