Four close games in Orange division
Four great games were played over the Holidays in the Orange Division of the First Annual Vernon Brown Memorial Tournament held at FHS! Joppatowne (ranked #3), South River (ranked #7), Roland Park (ranked #10), and our Lady Cougars enjoyed some great competitive games from out-of-county teams. All the games were very close and exciting with no margin of victory being over six points!!!
In the opening game, it was the Joppatowne Mariners defeating the South River Seahawks by a score of 60-55. In the night cap game, our Lady Cougars faced the Roland Park Reds and suffered a close defeat by a score of 47-42.
In Tuesday's action, the Mariners defeated the Reds with a final score of 45-39 claiming the title. In the consolation game, our Lady Cougars defeated the Seahawks 35-31. Way to go ladies!
Thank you to all the participating teams. Proceeds from the tournament honoring Vernon Brown were donated to the V Foundation for cancer research. A check for $1,000 was donated for this worthy cause!

The Vernon Brown Memorial Basketball Tournament - December 27th and 28th 2010
A great man, Mr. Brown spent his entire career working as an accomplished educator and coach at Fallston High School. He was a man who thrived on the opportunity to teach. He was kind, compassionate, funny and an inspiration to all. His very presence exuded a positive and joyful energy. Mr. Vernon Brown left behind an undeniable legacy at Fallston High School.
The Vernon Brown Memorial Basketball Tournament has been established to honor the passion and love that Coach Brown had for the game. It will be an annual event during the winter break at Fallston High School.
Fallston High School and all participating schools (Aberdeen, Bel Air, Edgewood, Joppatowne, Patterson Mill, Roland Park, and South River) in the Vernon Brown Memorial Basketball Tournament are proud to partner with "The V Foundation for Cancer Research" supporting cancer research here in Maryland. The participating schools collectively are donating $1,000 to "The V Foundation for Cancer Research" in the loving memory of Vernon W. Brown, III, beloved educator, coach, and friend.

Fallston Lady Cougars travel to Joppatowne to take on the #3 ranked Mariners !
Come out this Wednesday and support our jv and varsity girls take on the always tough squads from Joppatowne. This is a matchup of last years State Champs in the 1A and 2A divisions and promises to be a great night of basketball. Tipoff times are 5:00 and 6:45. Go Cougars !!
