2008 FHMGC Tournament Information

The FHMGC has two divisions; The Tournament Member Division and The Regular Member (Handicap only) Division. For selected tournaments, Regular Members will be allowed to participate on a space available basis.

A. Tournament Signup Guidelines

  1. Tournament Division Members may begin to sign up for a tournament on the nearest Saturday five weeks prior to the tournament as designated on the 2008 schedule of events.

  2. Tournament sign up sheets will be available in two locations; at the clubhouse next to the sign up log book, and on the FHMGC website.

  3. For the selected tournaments in which Regular Members are allowed to participate on a space available basis, Tournament Members will have priority until the Saturday 2 weeks prior to the sign up deadline; this includes the Tournament Waitlist. Regular members may begin to sign up on the entry log beginning with the Saturday 2 weeks prior to the tournament sign up deadline and must follow the same procedure as the Tournament Members. A general rule is that starting from the Saturday 2 weeks prior to the sign up deadline, all entries from both Tournament and Regular Members will be on a first come first served sign up basis for both the tournament log signup and the waitlist.

  4. The committee will notify members of their selection from the waitlist.

  5. Tournament and Regular Members, who sign up for a tournament and don’t show, forfeit all fees paid for the tournament.

B. Tournament Entry procedure

  1. A tournament entry is accomplished at the Fox Hollow Club House as follows:

  1. Enter your name on the entry sheet in the Tournament Log Book.

  2. Deposit your completed entry form in an envelope including a check for the entry fees in the slot located by the Computer.

  3. Write your name, tournament name and entry # from the Log Book on the envelope.

  1. You are not entered if payment is not included with your entry! This includes those who sign up on the Tournament Wait List.

  2. You are not entered if you did not enter your name in the Log Book.

  3. Regular members signing up on the Tournament Wait List need to put their phone numbers on the entry form.

  4. Entries are accepted beginning at 7:00 am on the nearest Saturday morning 5-weeks prior to the Tournament. See Tournament schedule on WEBSITE, FHMGC.org, for the precise date.

  5. You may cancel without forfeiture of fees up to Noon on the Sunday prior to the tournament.

  6. If tournament members are out of town for an extended period of time and wish to sign up for a tournament, the Tournament Committee Chairmen can help. Please contact them before the end of the 2-week signup period for the tournament members.

C. Tournament Play

  1. Players must check-in 15 minutes before your tee time or the shotgun starting time; failure to do so may result in the player’s replacement and forfeiture of their fees. Check in begins 1 hour before the first tee time.

  2. Play is governed by the current USGA Rules and Decisions of Golf and the current FHMGC hard card. The committee for each tournament will consist of the tournament’s chairmen, the rules committee chairmen (Mr. Boster and Mr. Jackson), the Club President, rules committee members who are accessible, and any others that may be designated for a specific tournament by the board. The decisions of the committee are final.

  3. The Condition of Play (COP) sheet handout for each tournament governs play and supersedes other information given out for the event.

  4. The player’s handicap at the time of the Tournament’s preparation will be the official handicap for the tournament; it will not be adjusted by a subsequent USGA update prior to the tournament. This does not apply to match play.

  1. Ties

  1. The winner (winning team) will be determined under Rule 33-6 and prescribed in Appendix I-c-9 in current USGA Rules of Golf, if not stated differently on COP sheet.

  1. Match Play

  1. Several separate match play tournaments will be conducted: Championship (Scratch), Handicap (from Blue & White Tees), and Senior Handicap (from Blue & White Tees). The Handicap Tournaments may have multiple flights. Match Play tournaments are open to both Tournament and Regular Members.

  2. The Championship (Scratch) flight will be conducted from the Black Tees; you must have a USGA handicap of less than 10 as of May 1, 2007 to compete in this flight.

  3. All matches must be played at the Fox Hollow Golf Course.

  4. You must be able to meet the deadlines for completion of play in each round. Any difficulties in arranging a match must be reported to the Match Play Chairmen 2 weeks in advance of the deadline. They will assist in the arrangement and if necessary determine the result of the match if it is not played by the deadline.

  5. It is the players’ responsibility prior to the round to establish their handicaps and the method to use in case their match ends “All Square” after the stipulated round. Either a scorecard playoff or additional holes of sudden death to establish the winner are possible. If no prior agreement was made, a scorecard playoff will be used. (See Section D. Ties)
