OPENING DAY PARADE CHANGED TO APRIL 23, 3:00p.m.
Due to the fact that t-ball, rookies and U11 softball will not be starting games until the 24th, and, more importantly, we're still matching up sponsors with teams, the Opening Day Parade has been postponed until April 23rd. There is just too much to do and too little time to pull it off well this week. Therefore, the parade will be on Friday, April 23: We'll gather at the elementary school immediately after school and start driving through town at 3:10ish. We need all teams from T-Ball to Juniors Baseball to have a truck, flatbed or trailer at the school, lined up on Grover Street at 2:50p.m. so that kids can group into their teams (with team shirts on) right after school. Friday afternoon/evening practices will remain as scheduled but will be slightly delayed. LOGISTICS FOR THE PARADE: We will start the parade with Laurel Ashley's T-ball team and Jason Holden's Minor League teams as they have practice right after school and will be back at the school first to accommodate their practices starting as close to 3:30 as possible. Teams with mainly middle schoolers will be at the end of the line (and coaches should plan to pick the kids up at the Middle School after school and bring them to Grover street) so the parade can start on time. We'll drive down Argyle to Spring Street, around the turn-around back up Spring Street, right on Second Street and left on Blair Street. We'll head back to the school via Cain and Argyle. There will be banners available for every vehicle at Printonyx on Wednesday, April 21st and we ask that those driving the trucks/flatbeds pick up their signs and have them taped to their vehicles to help kids get organized quickly. You can decorate your trucks in anyway you see fit as long as you leave room for sponsor banners on either side of the the vehicle. A couple of the trucks last year were really decked out! We hope this postponement gives you some added time to be creative. UNIFORMS: Minor and Major teams who have games on Friday and Saturday, April 16-17 will get their uniforms this week. T-Ball/Rookie teams will receive their shirts and hats at their scheduled practice beginning Friday, April 16. Softball uniforms will be issued next week. Everyone will have uniforms by the parade. Thanks for your help and flexibility in planning for this event that proved to be a great time for the kids, coaches and sponsors.
