Soaring To Success
Welcome to the Falcons Wrestling Club
Until further notice, we will be at L-W East for all practices. Practices are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6-8pm and on Saturdays from 8-10am at Lincoln-Way East. The Remaining practice over the holidays will be Sat. January 3.
Team and Individual Photo Night -- January 22
We will have a professional photographer at practice on Thursday, January 22, 2009. Forms for individual and group photos will be available at practice and should be filled out before the 22nd.
Congratulations to Falcons for Team Tournament Standings
Last week, the Falcons won the first place team trophy at the Lincoln-Way Central Tournament. This week, they followed that finish with a second place trophy at the Oak Forest Tournament that had well over 700 wrestlers.
Tournament Updates
- Wheaton Classic (1/11/09) - Registration due Tuesday, 1/6/09. Weigh-ins from 6-8:00 a.m. at Wheaton North H.S. (701 W. Thomas Road, Wheaton, 60187).
- Little Boiler Open (1/11/09) – Registration due Tuesday, 1/6/09. Weigh-ins will be at practice on Thursday, 1/8/09. Skin and nail check will be held 7-8:00 a.m. at Bradley Bourbonnais H.S. (700 W. North St, Bradley, 60415).
Please let Wendy or Coach Joe know if you have a preference for either of above. Once one of the tournaments has 30 wrestlers you will be directed to sign up for the other.
- IKWF Kids Open (1/17-1/18/09) – Online registration is open. Please go to ikwf.org to register. Hopefully you have secured your hotel room.
- Susan Collins Mem. Tourney (1/25/09) – Registration due Saturday, 1/10/09. Weigh-ins will probably be at the tournament, Oak Park/River Forest H.S., 201 N. Scoville Ave, Oak Park, 60302) from 6-8:00 am. Confirmation will be sent as soon as it is received.
- Minooka Little Indians (2/1/09) – Registration due Tuesday, 1/27. We will weigh-in at practice on Tuesday. Bracketing will be completed prior to the tournament. Check in 7-8:00 a.m. with wrestling starting at 8:30 at Minooka H.S., 301 S. Wabena, Minooka, 60447.
- Brawlers Brawl (2/8/09) – Registration due Tuesday, 2/3. We will weigh-in at practice on Tuesday. Bracketing will be completed prior to the tournament. Check in 7-8:00 a.m. Bishop McNamara H.S., 550 W. Brookmont, Kankakee, 60901. They will try and bracket 1st, 2nd yr wrestlers accordingly.
- Joe Tholl Elite (2/8//09).- Coach Ray will speak with those attending Tuesday, 2/3. Set weight classes. Weigh-ins will be at the Loebe Center in Orland Park. Wrestling begins @ 8:30 at Carl Sandburg H.S., 133rd & LaGrange Road in Orland Park, 60462.
- Beast of the East (2/15/09) – Our tournament at LWE.
- Pontiac Kids Open (2/22/09) – Registration due Tuesday, 2/17. Weigh-ins at practice on Tuesday. Wrestling will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Pontiac H.S., 1100 Indiana Ave, Pontiac, 61764.
As you will notice, more and more tournaments are requiring early registration with weights. Refunds cannot be given as we pay for the number we enter. Any questions please see Coach Ray or Coach Joe. Thank you.

FALCONS' SPIRITWARE
In addition to the Falcons spiritware found at http://www.cafepress.com/FalconWrestling we will also be selling this year's tee shirts and whatever is inventoried from years' past. Cost for this year's tee shirt is $15; cost for prior year's is $10. See Wendy Chasteen or Gary Vignasse.
FALCONS RECOGNIZED BY HIGH SCHOOLS
On Friday, December 5, Lincoln-Way East wrestled Lincoln-Way North at North. At the meet, the Falcons Wrestling Club was recognized for having helped and helping the L-W East and L-W North wrestling programs.

The Falcons Wrestling Club is the only club in and sanctioned by Lincoln-Way East and North, though registration is by no means limited to District boundaries. The Falcons have won multiple titles in every age-based division and have had numerous state medal winners.
Membership includes: USAW membership and insurance, IKWF membership, Tee shirtsInstruction, drilling, and live wrestling 4 days each week, Illinois and national tournaments, Guest clinicians who in the past have included Olympic Silver Medalist, 2X NCAA Champ, 3X Big Ten Champ, 2X World Cup and Pan Am Gold Medalist,, 2X NCAA All-American, Russian National Champ, and other NCAA All Americans.
