FCYSL Mandates Team Referee Policy

BallWhistle

At the June 12th Board of Directors Meeting, the Board approved a new policy in an effort to increase and relieve the current massive shortfall of referees.

This policy requires that each team must have at least 1 person, over the age of 14, who will attend a Recreational Referee Clinic, become Certified, and be prepared to referee games. This person should not be the coach, but should be either a parent or an older sibling.

Any teams that do not supply a certifiable candidate, will not be allowed to participate in any tournaments, including the leagues own End-of-Season Tournament.

The next Referee Certification Clinic is not yet scheduled (Tentative dates of either February 16 or 23, 2013 are under consideration). A minimum of 12 Enrollees must be registered to attend in order for a clinic to be conducted (per NMSRA guidelines). A deposit must be paid in order to guarantee attendance. Deposits can be refunded upon attendance and completion/certification of the clinic. Deposits/Registration/Clinic Costs are being covered by the area clubs, but you must be affiliated with one of the clubs at the time of registration. A committment to refereeing a minimum of 5 games will be expected by the club sponsoring referee candidates. Contact Andy Robertson, SRA, Instructor, at: robee192@hotmail.com for Clinic information or to register to attend.
