Fayette County Youth Softball Association: Fall 2009 Divisions
This age group is for girls who are 6 years or younger as of January 1st of the current year. We begin introducing the concept of team competition by having an umpire and keeping score. The girls now get four pitches from the coach and two chances to hit off the hitting Tee, if needed.
8U Coach Pitch
This age group is for girls who are 8 years old or younger as of January 1st of the current year. We continue the concept of team competition by having an umpire and keeping score. The girls get five pitches from their coach when hitting and coaches are still on the field with them for defensive guidance.
12U Fastpitch
This age group is for girls who are 12 years old or younger as of January 1st of the current year. At this level the girls continue to develop their skills and competition is at a higher level with two umpires per game. The pitcher will pitch windmnill style fast pitch to the opposing team with a normal ball/strike count from the home plate umpire. This division works well for girls looking to try out for their middle school team or those who are just playing for fun.
13 + Fastpitch
This age group is for girls who are 13 to 18 years old as of January 1st of the current year. This is the highest level of competition in our recreational program with two umpires per game. The pitcher will pitch windmill style fast pitch to the opposing team with a normal ball/strike count from the home plate umpire. This division works well for girls looking to try out for their high school team or those who are just playing for fun.
10U Fastpitch
This age group is for girls who are 8 years old or younger as of January 1st of the current year. We continue the concept of team competition by having an umpire and keeping score. The girls get five pitches from their coach when hitting and coaches are still on the field with them for defensive guidance.
4U Pre-T
Our pre-T division is designed to introduce the sport of softball to the girls in a modified non-competitive setting. The girls will get two pitches from the coach and four chances to hit off the Tee. This age group has no umpires and score is not kept.
