Welcome Coach Tichenor!
Fern Creek announced the signing of the new Wrestling Coach, Josh Tichenor.
Coach Tich" attended Fern Creek from 1992-1996 and played football, wrestled and ran track. After graduating from Fern Creek in 1996, he attended Eastern Kentucky University obtaining a Bachelors of Science in Aviation in May of 2001, eventually acquiring a private pilot license with an instrument rating. Coach Tich explained "The changes in required flight time to be hired by an airline after 9-11 made me think about changing careers. A friend of mine, that I graduated from the Creek with, was coaching football at Iroquois High School. He asked me to be an assistant coach and I took the job. I went back to Spalding University to get my Masters Degree in Special Education and began teaching the following year."
After a year at Iroquis High School in Louisville, Coach Tich started the wrestling program and enjoyed much success in a very short period of time. After just two varsity seasons Iroquis proudly boast 4 top 25 wrestlers, one of which is top 10. This past season he founded the South End Wrestling Club that had wrestlers from Iroquois, Doss, PRP, Ballard, Central, Southern and DeSales.
Coach Tichenor has a great heritage at Fern Creek High School and states: "My family and I are very excited to be back at Fern Creek. My mom and dad both graduated from Fern Creek along with all of my aunts and uncles. My dad and one of my uncles wrestled in the 70’s. My wife and my sister were class of ’97. I am looking forward to continuing the tradition of success at Fern Creek and hanging more state titles in our wrestling room!"

Coach Hall Retires!
Coach Jeff Hall announced his retirement at the wrestling banquet last week. Coach Hall's announcement was very moving as he talked in a heartfelt explanation of how much the program has meant to him in his 20+ years with the program as a wrestler, Assistant Coach, Co-Head Coach and Head Coach.
Many tears were shed as ex-wrestlers, coaches and administrators showed up unexpectedly to ackknowledge Coach Hall's dedication to the program. It was a surprising and memorable night for all.
Coach Hall cited many reasons for his decision to retire citing age, starting a family and that the time was just right. We all wish Jeff and family the very best in their future and hope to see them next season rooting on the Creek!
