Athena Update - 08/07/08

Tumwater KITG Champions
Athena went undefeated in the Tumwater Kick-in-the-Grass to win the GU17 division.  The team scored 11 goals, while only allowing 1 during the 4 games of the tournament.

2008-2009 Roster
Congratulations to our new and returning players for 08-09: Margo, Hanna, Sam, Shannon, Jenna, Olivia, Cori, Michelle, Julia, Paige, Tori, Ali, Kari, Tessa, Amy, Heather, Ruta, and Hannah.

Training
Tuesdays 6:30 - 8:00 at the Shoreline Utility Field (behind Shoreline A/B) and Thursdays, 5:30 - 7:00 at Shoreline A/B

Tumwater July 18-20, 2008
LPTs Aug 9-10, 16-17, 2008 (Dates & Location TBD)

Colin Rigby will be coaching and training Athena this year. Colin played college ball at SPU, and spent the 2007 season with the Seattle Sounders. Colin brings a sense of humor and a great passion for the game which keeps training lively!

Homework
All players should be juggling constantly, running 20 minutes 3x per week, and doing core strengthening on the off days. Remember Jan's routine: Planks, squats, crunches - 3 sets each...

Coach's Corner

About Colin...
Colin hails from Mercer Island, and scored a career-high seven goals as a senior at Seattle Pacific University leading the team for the season. He was selected as GNAC Player of the Week three times in 2006 and was voted to All-Far West Region second team by the NSCAA. Colin played with the Seattle Sounders during the 2007 season.
