Falls Church Kiwanis Little League: Player Training

Sessions are organized by the player’s experience level in order to promote a safe playing environment and effective instruction. Players are welcome to sign up for as many classes as they wish. Please carefully note the days, times and locations for training when registering to avoid conflicts.
Players must be registered for the FCKLL Spring 2012 season in order to participate in FCKLL baseball training.

Please note:
- Training sessions will begin on time. Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early for registration and preparation.
- Players must wear tenning shoes, no cleats. Male players must wear an athletic protector.
- Sign up for mobile alerts of schedule changes and cancelations or visit www.fckll.org. Because training space is limited, there will be no make up sessions for classes canceled due to inclement weather.

- FCKLL is dedicated to providing all children with the opportunity to learn and play baseball. In cases of significant financial hardship, accommodations can be made for payment of fees. Families in need should contact the league Player Agent at 855-FCKLL-VA or fckll@ymail.com.
ADVANCED INFIELDING
In this class players will develop both physical and mental familiarity with more challenging aspects of the infield. Topics include double plays, barehanding, anticipating hits, backhands, positioning, picking balls in the dirt, reading the hop, etc. This clinic is intended for returning Majors or AAA players.

PITCHING
This clinic focuses on the physical and mental preparation for being a successful pitcher. Players will be introduced to the following elements of pitching: stretching; nutrition; pitching mechanics; and grips including four-seam and two-seam fastballs, and the straight change. This class is intended for returning Major or AAA players.

BEGINNING PITCHING
For many players this will be their introduction to pitching. Get them started right with a thorough understanding of the basics for training, warm-ups, pitching mechanics and mental preparation. This class is intended for returning AA or A level players.

HITTING (Registration CLOSED)
Players will learn the basics of a balanced stance and swing, keeping their head still, and generating power through proper rotation. The goal is to develop each player’s ability to hit for average and power. This class is intended for rising and returning AAA players.

The catcher position is unique for both the physical skills and mental approach necessary to succeed. Focus will be on proper stances/footwork; receiving pitches; blocking bad balls; and making strong, quick, accurate throws. Previous catching experience is a plus, but the desire to learn to catch is most important. This clinic is intended for returning Majors or AAA players. Equipment is provided, if necessary. All male players must wear a protective cup.

CATCHING

BASEBALL BASICS FOR T-BALL ROOKIES AND SLUGGERS
Training for baseball beginners – excellent clinic for all T-Ball Rookie and Sluggers players. The basics of hitting, fielding and throwing will be taught. Parents are encouraged to stay, listen and learn as well.
