We have decided to bring this tournament indoors this year. The last 4 years have brought rain, strong winds and cold temps. on this weekend. This WILL be the BIG event in Nebraska. This will be an "NIT" event, teams will earn "Double Points" and the top 4 finishers in each age division will earn berths! 2 Pool into Double elim. The top 8 teams "A" from MN., KS., MO., IA., & NE. in the 14U, 16U, & 18U will be here for this. We have the top teams from all States participating, MO. KS, MN. & IA are bringing their Gold teams. This is a great way to play some of the best competion in the country and away to win some travel money.
This will be played at the nicest ball parks in the USA, The Cat Osterman Complex.

This event is open to the 10U and 12U division but you will not be a part of the Conference USSSA

Information:

This is an ASA sanctioned tournament.

All teams must be ASA sanctioned (Roster limited to 15 players per team)

ASA Rules will govern all play with the exception of the following:

a.The 12 run rule is in effect after 3, 10 after 4, and 8 runs after 5 innings.

b.All games except championship will be 7 innings subject to a 75 minute time limit, if time expires and the game is tied (pool play only) it will remain a tie game.

c.Championship game will be 7 innings subject to a 90 minute time limit. The run rules will be in effect. International tiebreaker will go into effect at the start of the 8th inning.

d.In case of rain or other postponements, the Tournament Director has the right to reschedule or eliminate teams to determine the champions. In case of rain or threat of rain, games may be shortened by time or innings.


FORMAT:
Minimum of four games for each team.

Pool play on Saturday and single elimination on Sunday.

Tournament seeding on Sunday will be determined by win/loss record from pool play. In case of ties, heads up competition will NOT be used. The team with the least runs scored against them will receive the higher seeding. If a tie still remains, the team scoring the most runs will receive the higher ranking. If still tied, a coin flip will determine the higher seed.

Trophies and Medals will be given to first, second, and third in all age divisions. (Also Tournament M.V.P. trophies will be presented to one player in each age division.)

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION:

Coaches are to check in their team a minimum of 1 hour prior to playing their first game. Teams will be able to check in at Gerrard Park on Friday night between 5:00 P.M. and 8:30 P.M. and Saturday morning. Please have the following items available when checking in:

a.(2) ASA Approved Leather Optical Yellow 47cor softballs (ONLY leather cover ASA APPROVED BALLS WILL BE ACCEPTED)

b.ASA player ID/Insurance cards

c.Where you are staying and a phone number where you can be reached.


Teams must be at the playing field 45 minutes before game time, ready to play. Coaches shall exchange lineups prior to the coin flip.

Home team will be determined by coin flip.

The home team will keep the official scorebook. Please compare scorebooks each half inning to avoid conflicts. Game time starts with the first warm-up pitch. Time should be noted in the scorebook.

Winning teams are responsible for turning in the scores to the tournament head quarters. Losing teams are responsible for checking the scores for accuracy. ANY SCORES THAT ARE NOT TURNED IN BY THE END OF THE DAY SATURDAY WILL BE SCORED AS A FORFEIT FOR BOTH TEAMS AND NO POINTS WILL BE AWARDED TO EITHER TEAM FOR POOL PLAY SEEDING ON SUNDAY.

43’ pitching distance will be used for the 16-U & 18-U divisions.

Metal cleats will be allowed in 16-U and 18-U divisions.

This is a non-protest tournament. Disputes will be settled by the umpires before play resumes. All umpire decisions are final.

Under no circumstances shall a player from another team play for your team if that player has already played a game in the 2010 Fire & Ice Tournament, even if that players team has been eliminated from the tournament, no exceptions.

Coaches passes will be issued for three coaches per team, the coaches pass will be punched daily, and the coaches hand will be marked. Any persons found to be entering the complex with out payment / pass will be removed from the tournament for the weekend.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Gerrard Park Complex is located at 27th Street and 45th Avenue, Columbus, NE, 68601

All teams, officials, players, umpires and spectators participating in this tournament do so at their own risk. Tournament officials will not be responsible for any injuries sustained as part of this tournament.

At the completion of the game please clean up the Dugout area.

Please warm up in designated areas only, beyond the dugouts adjacent to outfield.

Only CANNED and PLASTIC beverages are allowed at Gerrard Park. NO GLASS CONTAINERS of any kind may be brought into the complex. Possession of glass containers will result in your removal from the complex.

The City of Columbus has a no dogs allowed ordinance at Gerrard Park Complex. Please abide by this ordinance as the Parks Dept. & the City Police will be enforcing this rule. Coaches please inform your parents as they can be ticketed.

The drinking of alcoholic beverages at Gerrard Park is illegal. VIOLATORS WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE COMPLEX FOR THE ENTIRE TOURNAMENT.

The Columbus Softball Association (CSA), Fire & Ice Inc., and the City of Columbus are not responsible for injuries or lost or stolen items.

Consessions & T-Shirts will be available at Gerrard Park Complex.
