Most details will be posted by January 1 2010 as we work on improving things from last year, but we just wanted to let you know there definitely will be one next year. So for those of you that don't have it in your work schedule or budget to spend a full week away,we certainly invite you to come join the fun.

FASTPITCH SHOWDOWNS Presents:
 CAPITOL CITY "BAT WARS" 7 GAME GUAR.SHOWDOWN & COLL.SHOWCASE

Age: 8 & Under
Class: ASA - OPEN
Date: June 11, 2010 - June 13, 2010
Place: LOU BERLINER PARK
325 GREENLAWN AVE.
COLUMBUS OHIO, Michigan 43223
Directions

Information:

We are happy again to partner with the Bat Wars extravaganza from Florida. It is one of only 3 places they will go in the U.S.for fastpitch this summer, and we are proud to host them as we think this will make the tournament one for the girls to remember.

Those that were with us last year, you'll remember they have 4 pitching machines set up pitching constantly, over 2500 balls, dozens of shaggers, many Fastpitch related giveaways, and over 200 bats for the girls to try - all at no cost! What a great experience for the girls and what a chance to try out in live action so many different bats to see what works best for them - again all at no cost.

Combine this with a guaranteed 7 games for all teams, 90 minute games, games no earlier than noon on Friday and no later than 6:00 on Sunday, pool winners advancing,no admission fee ( the city does charge a parking fee ), and we promise a good time for all.

For those of you have been with us before you will notice it is now a seven-game minimum. We did this for several reasons. Primarily we wanted to keep Bat Wars at the tournament. Their involvement necessitates the maximum number of teams participating. Plus several of the teams had a schedule last year that didn't allow them to participate in the Bat Wars event. And several coaches have said that although 8 games sounds good at first, it really was too many between noon Friday and 6 PM Sunday. Also we had several teams that left early last year because " they had played enough ball that weekend". So rather than change the time frame to start earlier and/or end later, or shorten the game length, we have made it a 7 game minimum.

    Cost: $445.00

    Minimum Games Guaranteed: 7

Information:

Just wanted to let everyone to know that there will be a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) administered camp in Columbus Ohio on July 8, 2010 immediately preceding our tournament. They only do 6 administered camps in the whole country and we are thrilled to have them in Columbus. We were involved with the NFCA administered camps in Toledo, and we can say in our 20 years of softball experience we have never seen a better college exposure camp or one more well attended by college coaches.
After some discussion, the camp will be held on the grounds of the Ohio State campus, which will be great! And you don't even have to come to our tournament to attend the camp. Just go to NFCA.org or click on NFCA on our website, and then click on the administered camp for July 8th in Columbus Ohio and they will handle everything. (The girls can't register until Feb.1)
Last year without this camp there were over 50 college coaches in Columbus for the weekend, and with the drawing power of the NFCA and its college coaches membership, we would expect dozens more to be there in 2010. It will no doubt be the premier weekend for college recruiting in this part of the country. And if you attend the camp or just observe, it is certainly a fantastic softball experience.
We will require a team profile form from all 16U & 18U teams listing the pertinent data for each girl on your roster. We will then put this in booklet form to give to the college coaches. Also to accommodate the college coaches schedules, all 16u & 18u teams must be ready to play at 9 AM Friday.
The coaches complimented us on how nice it is to come to one complex (31 fields!) to see all the players in action without having to run for one complex to another. Combine this with a minimum of 6 games, all games at 90 minutes, reasonable cost,an ASA Eastern National Qualifier, and an NFCA administered camp in town, and we think it will be a weekend to remember for all girls who are considering playing at the next level.
So if you come to our tournament or not, we certainly invite all teams/girls that are serious about the college recruiting process to be in Columbus that weekend.
