Who's call is it
|
HS rules
R1 at 2B, R2 at 1B
Left handed runup slapper hits ball straight down off outside of lead foot and ball rolls to F5. BU immediately calls dead ball ball hit foot. Coaches ask whether in or out of box. PU apparently did not see batter get hit and PU points to BU who shouts back "I got the ball you have the box."
Does the PU have the batters box on balls the BU calls hitting the batters foot?
BTW: there were no batters box lines making this call even harder

BU who shouts back "I got the ball you have the box."
1) That's the most ridiculous thing I ever hoid.
PU's call all the way
(edited to add)
After reading Irish's reply, I realize that in my hast to be a wise guy, I misread the OP.
Not sure what I was thinking or reading.
So to clarify,
Primary call on both the ball hitting batter and location of batter's foot belongs to PU..
Should BU see ball hitting batter, BU should hesitate (to allow PU to make the DEAD BALL call), if PU does not make call, should then step up and kill it.
I would still stick with PU only responsible for location of batters foot.

As ridiculous as screaming across the field is, the statement is somewhat accurate.
The entire call is the PU's, but the BU saw the ball hit the batter which often is not seen by the PU and made the call. But there is no way the BU is going to see the box or the foot in relation to it.

You are absolutely correct....
I believe in my rush to be a smarta$$, I completely misread the OP.
I added an explaination to my post...
(I was going to delete it, but I'm not proud)
