Should Barry Bonds' records be amended?
Barry Bonds and steroids--it seems the two have been linked for years. But yesterday an explosive excerpt from the book “Game of Shadows” on the Sports Illustrated website provided some pretty strong evidence that Barry Bonds has knowingly taken steroids since 1999.

The real question is not whether Barry Bonds will be admitted to the Hall of Fame. (He probably will—despite these new allegations.) But assuming that Bonds is guilty should his amazing career records—he is currently third on the all-time home run list—be amended or even removed? Should there be an asterix next to Bonds’ records as well as other players of the ‘steroid’ era? Or without conclusive evidence should these records remain intact and unblemished?

Sad  Re: Should Barry Bonds' records be amended?
If they can keep Pete Rose out of the Hall of Fame for actions he committed after retiring as a player, actions which had no bearing whatsoever on his statistics, then I think they should put an asterisk by Bonds name if he gets the HR record and deny him entrance into the Hall.

No. Steve Hartman and TJ Simers are spot on (for once).

I am no Barry Bonds fan, but before we convict him over something someone wrote, I want to know how he passes his drug tests. You can't comvict a person on a drug charge without the evidence.

I thought that baseball actually allowed juicing until recently.

I find it amusing both McGwire and Sosa bolted as soon as testing started. Sosa was an average player before the roids and was again after. Do you think Bonds is built up now, as just fat?

No, he obviously has used human growth hormone, for which MLB has not tested. Otherwise his head would not have grown in his mid-30s to a size that surpassed the volume of the pumpkin that won first prize at the Alameda County Fair. Plus, the fact that he took voluntary post-season steroids tests before the major league testing program was instituted was to see if masking agents had camouflaged the chemical cocktails that had transformed his body. Shame on you Barry for being a terrible example to young people of what an elite athlete should be.

No, but posts about baseball should be posted on the correct board.

No. Erased. Same for McGuire... back to 61!
Geez that guy who paid $3 million for McGuire's 70th home run ball must feel like an even bigger doof.
