OVERVIEW:
This is a chance for college bound softball players to showcase their talents to college coaches in a controlled situation. Each player will be given ample opportunities to demonstrate her skills. Station time is scheduled with an emphasis on equal opportunity for all players. Much like the pitching exposure camp, the station times are scheduled beforehand.
FORMAT:
The format will be a station style camp.
STATIONS:
Rotations through each station will be 45 minutes in length.
SKILLS:
The players will be evaluated in the following disciplines.
Running speed from Home to 1st, Home to 2nd, and Home to Home – stop watch time
Overhand throwing speeds – radar time
Infield skills
Outfield skills
Hitting skills
Bunting skills
GROUPS:
The camp is limited to 4 groups with 16 girls in each group, 64 total. Each group will have a group leader to guide the girls through the stations. Each girl will have an ample opportunity to display her skills.
AGES:
Eligible players will be girls that have graduated 8th grade and are entering high school as freshman through girls that are entering their senior year of high school. All players must have a 2.5 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale to participate.
BATTING:
There will be a series of hitting stations for the girls to demonstrate their hitting mechanics for the coaches. Each of the girls will get opportunities to hit from tees, hit from soft-toss, and hit and bunt off of a pitching machine.
DEFENSE:
Each of the girls will participate in all of the stations to allow them to demonstrate all of their talents to college coaches regardless of their primary position played during the season. This camp is for positional players only. There will be no special stations for pitchers or catchers.
COLLEGE COACHES:
There were 30 plus college coaches in attendance at the 2007 camp with the results being forwarded to many other colleges.
COST:
The cost of the camp is $100.00 per participant.
