2009 away game tailgate volunteers
Thank you so much for all the people that contacted me this week to volunteer to help with the away tailgates and for all the people who volunteered for additional games.  The Gumas family has generously volunteered to make a donation to cover the cost of paper products for all of the games and I will have donations from the Barna Family and Diane Tynan to go towards the price of food for these games.  They live further away and this was an easier option for them.  Thank you so much for these donations - they will be put to good use.  I will pass the money along to each group to cover the paper products and utensils and will divide up the money for food between all of the groups.

Again, thank you all for volunteering and the number of volunteers will make it much easier on all of us.  If the following people from each group could contact the other people in their group and start to make your food plans for their game:   I tried to pick an upper class parent.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and I have some menu information from past years if any of these four people would like me to fax it to them.  Just email me at
SLib518@aol.com and give me your fax number.

2009 F&M Tailgating

Away Game Tailgates: We ask for several sets of parents to volunteer to ‘host’ a tailgate at away games. (We have many players and therefore, many parents. As such, no one should have to do more than one game.)Tony & Sue Liberatore are responsible for coordinating who signs up for what game. (SLib518@aol.com) They DO NOT do coordinating the groups for each game. Very shortly, Sue will be putting out an email letting everyone know who the groups are for each away game. It then becomes the responsibility of the group that volunteered to coordinate among themselves what food will be served at their tailgate. It would be nice if each group of parents tries to diversify their menu from game to game so the food isn’t the same each week. But we also understand that people can do what they can do, and are just happy to have volunteers.

Home Tailgates:All home game tailgating is done in the grassy area to the left of the home stands (as you look at the field from the main entrance parking lot.)All families are on their own for food at home tailgates, except for Homecoming Weekend. For this weekend only, the Football Alumni & Alumni Relations Office host a tailgate for families and the team. (more on this later)If you attend the home games, and are planning to tailgate with your player and family, PLEASE bring extra food to ensure that all of the players have a chance to eat. Not every boys’ parents will be able to attend the games and we want them to have as much of an opportunity to partake in the tailgating as those whose families can attend.

Help needed for 2009 tailgates away games
F&M Football: Away game tailgates
Hello Parents
At all away games, the parent group provides a post-game meal for the players, coaches & staff. By the time they eat, it will have been at least 5-6 hours since most of them last ate….AND THEY PLAY HARD. The away game tailgates are one of the MOST important aspects of the parent group and we have a long tradition of providing food, drink and dessert for the team & staff. If you are unable to do anything else, this is where you can volunteer.  It will mean a LOT to the boys. They truly appreciate the effort and it’s a wonderful opportunity for all of us to get together and celebrate them. This season we have five away games.
Sept. 5 – at Washington & Lee   1 PM
Sept. 26 – at Juniata   1 PM
Oct. 10 – at Ursinus   1 PM
Oct. 31 – at McDaniel   1 PM
Nov. 7 – at Johns Hopkins   1 PM
Coordination is the key to the success of our tailgates. Dividing up the responsibility for away game tailgates means less work for everyone. In that vein, we ask that you take a good look at your calendars and make a determination early as to which away games you can plan to attend and then volunteer to organize and provide food for one of the above games. We would like to get at least 5 – 6 sets of parents to work together on each tailgate.
Please take a look at the above schedule and then email us at SLib518@aol.com to let me know which game you can
help with.  Make sure you include your name so we can get back in touch with you.  We need to have the responses ASAP so we get this organized well in advance of the Sept. 5th game.

Thanks so much for you help!

Sue & Tony Liberatore

Home Game Tailgate Location!
Our tailgate loaction for home games is on the home side of Sponaugle-Williamson Field. Park in the main F&M parking lot and set up your tables in the grassy area at the end of the field closest to the Harrisburg Pike on the home team side. Do not forget to have your parking permit with you. It must be displayed on game days.

F&M Tailgate History

F&M is known for its strong tradition of tailgating. Most families tailgate at every home and away game. For those families who live too far to attend each game, rest assured that the Football Parents Group provides food and drink for all F&M players after each game.

To our new F&M families, we kow you will enjoy tailgaiting with us and we look forward to meeting you. We know you will enjoy the experience.

Parents are encouraged to bring food for their families. There is a small concession stand at the F&M home games if you want a snack.

For freshmen families, we know you will have many questions. We invite you to contact any of the volunteer parents identified on the Parents Group Committees.
