Atlantic County High School Rowing Championships

How to Donate a Boat (Vespoli Parent's Club)
INFORMATION REGARDING THE VESPOLI PARENT/DONOR PROGRAM
“Donating a boat to my daughter's rowing program was ...

Boathouse Procedures
We will be the guests of Atlantic County. Please observe the following Boathouse Procedures for the safety of all people and equipment.

Treat all equipment with care
Take Slings out of the Boathouse
Take oars down to the Dock
Carefully take boat out of the boathouse or off the rack and put it on slings
Make sure that you have your seat and equipment before proceeding to the dock.
Before putting the boat in the water, check for loose parts and/or problems with the boats

When finished rowing, wash down and dry the boat and oars.
Do not throw towels on the ground, as they pick up harmful debris
Put towels on the rack to dry.
When putting away your boat, be sure to place it in the rack that it came from and line up the marks on the boat and rack. Put away the slings.

Sign out. If you noticed any equipment problems, write a note on the board in the boathouse. When your rowing session is over, turn off lights and lock the front and side doors.

Why is Practice Mandatory?
"Unless a rower was nearly on death's doorstep, she was expected to show up for practice every day. If this seemed like an overly macho attitude, it had a very practical basis too. Unlike most other team sports, where a missing player could generally be replaced without great loss, an absent rower might mean the boat could not function properly. It was like a bird with a broken wing." -- Daniel J. Boyne, The Red Rose Crew
