Fair Haven SummerHeat Tournament & Jersey Shore Bat Company

Fair Haven SummerHeat Tournament Directors are pleased to announce our partnership with Jersey Shore Bat Company. This partnership was started last year and has been renewed again this year. Dick Yuhas, owner of Jersey Shore Bat, will be exhibiting a collection of wood bats on-site during the SummerHeat Tournament, Fair Haven Fields complex off Ridge Road, on both Saturday and Sunday, June 27 & 28. If you’d like to pre-order please contact Jersey Shore Bat directly at 732-380-0710. Or, visit their web site at www.jerseyshorebats.com. You can learn more about the 8th Annual SummerHeat tournament by logging onto to our web site at www.fairhavenbaseball.com.

Jersey Shore Bat Company was founded in 1998 in Freehold, NJ. The shop is small and personally run by the owner. All bats are hand turned and finished in the shop and only the highest quality wood bat blanks are used. Bats can be custom painted in team colors and labeled with the owner’s name.   The revival of the wooden bat is driven both by the needs of baseball "purists" and the concerns over the differences in the distance, speed and feel of hitting with a metal bat vs. a wooden bat. Many schools and training organizations are returning to wooden bats to provide that true feel of baseball. They are also returning to wooden bats because of concerns about the types of injuries metal bats are causing in young players.

Handcrafted maple and ash baseball, softball and fungo bats are currently available in 15 different models.

Bats come in sizes from 28" to 35" long. Softball bats are also made to sizes of 33" and 34" in both maple and ash. Fungo bats are available in 33", 34" and 35". Ash usually runs at a -2 or-3. Maple bats run at a -1 to -2 drop in weight.

Sandlot Baseball Program E.M.S.A.  2009

What is Sandlot Baseball??            First and foremost “pick up” baseball.  There will be two groups, a 14U group who will play on Mon/Wed and an 11U group who will play on Tue/Thu.  The schedule will consist of the “instructional” topic for each day, for example, pitching on mondays, catchers on tuesdays, etc... The instructional period will begin at 4:30 and will last approx 30 minutes. At the conclusion of the instructional session,  team captains will be chosen and teams will be picked to play the game, the session will end around 7:15.  The game will be played with adult pitching, initially.  The program is to allow the players to play any position they want to try, the only “rule” is you can’t play the same position two innings consecutively.            This is a Wood Bat program, the only object the players are required to bring is a glove, and we will supply the bats and balls and catchers equipment.  Attendance is not mandatory, whenever the players want to come as long as it is a scheduled night for their age group they are welcome.  Last year some players came only on the dates their particular “training” was on the sched. Application and Fee should be mailed to 131 N. Monroe Avenue, Shrewsbury, NJ 07702

before July 13, 2009 or email required info to stevedeangelo@comcast.net and mail check, please make out all checks to EMSA.

Fee:  $60.00 (make checks payable to EMSA)

Program Start Date:   July 13 through August 27
