EYHAGeneral Membership Meeting

at Muldoon’s Meeting Room - 

CE Orr Ice Arena BoardMembers Present: Rick Kish - Director, Frank Vidmar –President, Barb Tingley - Treasuer,Penny Meaney –Secretary.  Board Members Not Present:  Scott Linderman – Equip. Mgr.  

Members Present at Meeting: Schmitt,Parker, Hoddinott, Trobenter,Mackos, Mignogna, Shivak, Rypinskis, Augustine,Valentine, McDonough, Abranovich, Hongosh,Purcell, Jones, Aylward, Owens’, Runza.

Call to Order 7:20pm

1) Introduction of Officers: Frank made introductions of the new 2009-10 EYHA BoardMembers.  Frank stated that therewould need to be team managers for each team chosen.

2) Concessions andFundraising: Frank stated that the concession stand at Memorial Pool wasgood so far.  LeisaSperoff and Teri Hongoshwere commended on their outstanding job of coordinating the concessions.  There is a fundraiser beginning to sellcookie dough.  There will be a$5.00 profit for each tub sold to offset the cost of the player’s fees.  On September 20, 2009 there will be abenefit at Beef O’Brady’s.  20% of purchases will be given back to EYHA.  There will be a flyer with moreinformation to follow. 

3) Registration:  Frank explained that this year eachplayer will have to register directly with USAHockey.  You must be a member toplay EYHA.  In addition to themembership, extra health insurance is included.  Uniforms must be ordered this week, so those parents needinguniforms must turn the forms and money in within two days.    Rick stated that forms areavailable on the EYHA website.  Youmay now make payments on-line with a PayPal account.

4) Coaches and Schedules: Rickintroduced the head coaches for the season:  Mite 1 – Joe Trobenter, Mite2 - ?, Squirts – Rick Kish, PeeWees– Chip Macko, Bantams - ?.  Rick stated that he met with theCleveland Heights coaches and director. Heights would be willing to combine Bantam teams this year.  It is undetermined how many teams therewill be and who will coach.  Rickreminded coaches that they are required to wear helmets whenever they are onthe ice.  EYHA will be usingGilmour’s ice starting the second week of August.  Orr ice area opens September 8.  The practice ice times will vary from last year for alllevels.  Rick is working out theschedule.  There will be acommittee formed to assess those players who are considering playing up.  During the first two practices, thoseplayers will be observed and the committee will make recommendations accordingly. 

5) Treasurers Report: Barb reported that asof 7/11 $5,600 has been collected for fees, 1,175 for jerseys and $475 fortournament fees.  The concessionstand at Memorial Pool opened 6/15. As of July 19, $4,558 has been deposited.  Barb stated that it has not been “pool weather” so far.  Since there were no accurate recordsfrom the last two years, it is unknown whether the concessions are making usmoney yet.  Barb stated that wehave paid last year’s outstanding bills to Adlers$2,800 and Pepsi $436.  There iscurrently $6,600 in our account.

6) Membership and New Program: Frankreported that this year all EYHA players will receivean open-skate pass included with registration in cooperation from the city ofEuclid.  Rick also stated that weneed to increase membership.  Hewould like to see us having two teams in each level within the next 2-3years.  Frank will be visitingneighborhood schools with information to pass out.  Rick then talked about the new Panther Tracks program, whichis taking the place of our Cross-Ice Program.  Panther Tracks will enable kids to be in groups of similarages.

Ideas / Suggestions /Discussion items: Chip Macko told all the new parents and Miteparents not to be discouraged when their child first starts on a team.  He said to give the coaches time towork with the kids and you will see results by December.  The meeting Adjourned at 8:11 pm. The next EYHA AssociationMeeting will be held on Monday August 10, 2009 at Muldoons.  Meetings will continue to be heldmonthly on Mondays.
