The Exeter Cardinals Baseball Club has won The Berks City County Junior League Championship, defeating the Bally Bearcats 7-0 July 21st at Pineland Park. The Cardinals, who finished 45-12 overall, were the first team in the 40 year history of City County Baseball to finish undefeated in league play and playoffs at 25-0. This Championship marks its third in the 17 year history of The Exeter Cardinals Baseball Club.
Inspired by the recent passing of 16-year old honorary captain Dylan Brown, who had a 2 year fight with cancer just recently come to an end, the Cardinals courageously battled for his family and took home the Berks Ciy County Championship.
2008 Berks County Carpenter Cup selection, Exeter junior-to-be Devon Campbell pitched a complete game masterpiece, striking out 17 batters on a 2-hitter. On offense for Exeter, 2008 Carpenter Cup selection, junior-to-be at Tulpehocken 3rd baseman Blaise Fernandez was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored. Right Fielder Mark Brown, a junior-to-be at Exeter, was 2 for 3 with an RBI double and 2 runs scored. Devon Campbell paced the Exeter Cardinals offense by finishing 3 for 3 with an RBI double and 2 runs scored.
Some highlights of this magical 2008 season include an Exeter Cardinals Memorial Day Tournament Championship, a Bally Bearcats Tournament Championship, a strong showing against 19u competition in Branford, Connecticut, and, finally, a 3-3 record in Myrtle Beach, SC at the Cal Ripken Experience Tidal Wave 16u baseball tournament.
This 2008 Berks County Championship was no doubt the culmination of 4 years of hard work and dedication set forth by the veteran players. Devon Campbell, Brent Hayes, Mark Brown, Mark Tarquinio, Zach Angstadt, Josh Sherman, Nick Demangone, Max Dundore, Nick Feeney and Darrin Erb are all shining examples of what the Exeter Cardinals Baseball Club is all about. They have remained dedicated to our program and look forward to successful high school and collegiate baseball careers.

Exeter Wins City County Memorial Day Classic
Congratulations to the Exeter Cardinals on winning the 1st Annual Exeter City County Memorial Day Classic. Big players play big in big games, and this championship was certainly no exception. Nick Feeney pitched an absolute 6 inning masterpiece. And then we were able to slam the door with Devon Campbell in the 7th to escape with the victory over Bally 1-0. The first inning proved to be huge when Josh Sherman led off the bottom of the first with a walk and got himself into scoring position after a strikeout. With 2 outs, Mark Brown, hit a tracer into left field driving in Sherman for the big go ahead run. Devon Campbell was named the Most Valuable Player for the Tournament.
