It was not good enough!!!!
The A section team 1 lost its first game of the season to Caerleon. It must be said that I have mentioned to other coaches within the club that this would happen.
I will not take anything away from Caerleon they played very well and work hard for one another, so congratulations and well done to all U11 players.
Training has been pretty awful, there has been 4/5 turning up, the same 4/5 it must be said. You cannot do anything with this type of committment. The added fact that they have missed so many games and playing teams not quite the standard has now proved a point " you harvest what you sow"
We simply have not been working hard enough, but that will change so hold on tight as the ride is going to get a bit bumpy.

Eveswell U 11 "A" Section Show Their Class
The players of the "A" squad have really shown their class. The attitude and commitment of the players in training is what every coach dreams about and it is certainly showing on the football pitch during matches.
Last weekend both teams from the squad produced some outstanding football. One team beat Llanwern 7 0 on a pitch that was no bigger than a postage stamp and grass ankle height.
However, in conditions that is best suited for jungle warfare the players were outstanding. Jordan Watkins displayed wonderful ball control and skill, his fast feet working like one of his heros at Man UTD, yes, Ronaldo. Jordan has great ability and I know there is more to come. Max Fessey was instrumental in keeping the team ticking. His vision and range of passing is just unbelievable, a player at his age should not be doing what he is doing, you do not coach talent like this you just watch and enjoy. Joel Standerwick and Taylor McDonald produced steady football with accurate passing which made the team purr. Both players are finally showing the form that I know they are capable of. Mark O'Connell has demonstrated controlled performances and all three players are becoming excellent footballers.
The other team beat pill 6-3, Pill are becoming a very good side with some very skillful players. It was the shear brilliance of Dan "C" Dan "H" Tom and Alex that won the game. However, again Adam Palmer Brandon Harrison and Bevan Murphy supplied the platform for this truly remarkable performance.
On Sunday there was only one game as Cromwell failed to raise a side due to illness so the manager Paulo Griffo decided on playing all the boys at the surviving fixture which ironically was against Cromwell.
All the players displayed maturity, composure and excellence to produce a 4 1 win.
On a small pitch the players demonstrated close control and passing of the highest quality. Oliver Griffiths produce another steady performance always playing the right ball and his name sake Nick played extremely well.
Goals by , Alex Dan "C" and an unfortunate own goal was enough, although the players produced football that created chance after chance.
I must say on Saturday during training some truly remarkable play was produced,to keep this standard you must work hard and practice.

Reflection of The opening day
Eveswell 3 v 2 Civil
It is my thoughts that the team that played against Civil were a little nervous and ignored the Team Play that has featured throughout the summer camp.
Although this may be a bit harsh, the passing was erratic, not accurate enough and the players did not move the ball fast enough. This was the root cause of the team giving away possession.
However, on a positive note. The goals that were scored were of high calibre which gives me an idea that as a team we will have to work on consistency. This means that all players must attend training
Eveswell 4 v 1 Rogerstone
This display was outstanding all players applying themselves.
All players that featured in this game have trained regular and have attended the summer camp and it certainly showed.
One of the dads has praised Adam Palmer on his performance but also emphasised that the whole team played very well

Eveswell 'B' (5) LLiswerry 'C' (0)
Another convincing win by a team bang in form. Great performances by all areas of the team. Defence solid, midfield creative and hard working , forwards awesome. The 5-0 scoreline flattered Lliswerry who never really threatened to score although they did keep us under pressure for much of the first half without troubling our keeper.
The 1-0 halftime scoreline meant Lliswerry had to come out and attack in the second half which left them vulnerable to the pace of Josh S. and Jack C. up front who found themselves in a one on one with their keeper on many occasions. Josh profited the most bagging 5 goals whilst the luckless Jack could have had 5 himself. On another day he will.
Man Of Match. Josh S. for a truly outstanding performance upfront , L .Smith for filling in the centre of defence for the injured Tom and proving what a versatile player he is and to captain Ryan G. for once again dominating the centre of midfield winning possession and setting up one attack after another.

Eveswell B 4 Caerleon B 2
It 's been a long wait but we have finally arrived . The Under 10b's started their belated campaign against a strong Caerleon side. In fairness . the game was very even and if Caerleon had taken one or two more of their chances it could have been a different result. But they didn't and goals from Luke Smith,Jack Caston,Josh Ireland and Josh Stevens won us the game. Man of the Match goes to Ryan Larcombe for some dogged defending and excellent distribution of the ball from defence.
Eveswell would like to welcome all new players and parents to the under 10 Y squad. Great first win, lets hope there are plenty more
