MATCH REPORTS:-
03/09/2006 SPENCER BOYS HOME
Match abandoned due to rain (fixture to be re-scheduled).
10/09/2006 REAL BETTWS AWAY 4 0 Rhys Bevan (3), Dan Coombes
After the previous week-ends damp squib, the B's were off to a flying start against a Bettws side that (despite the score-line) threatened the Eveswell goal on a number of occasions. Some quality stops by goal-keeper Fin O'Brien and stalwart defending by Matt Traill and Chad Gibson in the first half, followed by Max and Cory in the second ensured Eveswell's clean sheet. While in midfield and up front some slick passing carved out numerous chances for the Away side. Rhys Bevan scored a noteable hat-trick and Dan scored his first competitive goal for the side. Overall, a great team effort and an uplifting start to the season.
Squad - Finn, Chad, Matt, Dan, Rory, Nathan, Rhys B., Max, Cory, Kieran.
17/09/2006 MALPAS HOME 2 1 Rory Kelly, Rhys Bevan
What a result! Again no signs of summer rustiness as the B's contained a lively Malpas side and more than held their own in all parts of the pitch. Highlights of the match included a cracking goal by Rory, Rhys B's versatility as he again hit the back of the net up front and then stood in for injured keeper Fin. There is an impressive strength in depth to the squad this season, with Sam, Jake and Brandon all featuring this week, as well as an outstanding defensive display by Rhys Wilmot.
Squad - Finn, Chad, Rhys W., Rory, Sam, Brandon, Rhys B., Matt, Jake.
24/09/2006 GAER AWAY 2 3 Rhys Bevan (2)
A close match which Eveswell bossed in the second-half, but unfortunately saw the B's notch their first loss of the season. Highlights included two more goals by super striker Rhys B., and two assists from a lively Brandon, in particular a cleverly worked strike from a corner ball.
01/10/2006 MALPAS AWAY 0 9
A 'friendly' fixture arranged to cover a free week-end, and to accomodate a specific Malpas request. This match was played in atrocious wet weather, with all of the boys working hard to contain a very lively Malpas side. 6 - 0 down at half-time as a result of some impressive, clinical finishing by the opposition, and largely hemmed in to our own half in the second period, this was a tough backs to the wall encounter, with lots of lessons learnt.
Squad - Finn, Chad, Rhys W., Rory, Nathan, Cory, Rhys B., Matt, Brandon.
07/10/2006 EVESWELL U-9 C's HOME 2 1 Dan, Brandon
Another friendly fixture, this time against a physical and strong opposition saw the B's back to winning ways after trailing 1-0 down at half-time. This was a good football game to watch, lots of excellent passing, in particular from Nathan in a central midfield role. Also of note, Harry Porter made his debut for the team, at left back, and contributed well with sound heading and good distribution of the ball from defence.
Squad - Finn, Chad, Jake, Sam, Harry, Nathan, Brandon, Dan, Rhys B.
08/10/2006 NEWPORT CORINTHIANS B's AWAY 6 2 Dan (4), Max, Rory
A good, solid performance against the Corries, with excellent passing on display especially from Eveswell's strong midfield engine. With Rhys B. featuring in goal, Dan grabbed his opportunity to play up-front and belted in 4 goals, and Max scored a cracking first goal for the team.
Squad - Rhys B., Jake, Francis, Finn, Max, Rory, Brandon, Dan.
15/10/2006 WHITEHEADS GRAIG B's HOME 9 0 Rhys B (2), Rory (2), Nathan, Brandon, Dan, Chad, Rhys W.
The B's dominated this game, continuing their excellent passing form of recent weeks. All outfield players managed to get on the score sheet, with defenders swapping places with strikers in the second half, to share the glory. In particular, Rhys Wilmot scored his first goal. A great effort all round.
Squad - Finn, Chad, Rhys W., Nathan, Brandon, Dan, Rhys B., Rory
22/10/2006 CAERLEON B's AWAY 5 1 Brandon (2), Rhys B (3)
Another good team performance from Eveswell. Clinical finishing up front, matched by some great performances in midfield (in particular from Nathan and Chad) and with Harry yet again having a great game from left defence, ensured that Eveswell finished worthy winners.
Squad - Finn, Rhys B., Harry, Rhys W., Chad, Nathan, Brandon
29/10/2006 EVESWELL UTD C's HOME 8 1 Rory (4), Chad (2), Dan, Rhys B.
A re-arranged fixture pitched the B's against the C's for the first time. This was a lively, strong tackling affair, which despite the score-line was not all one way traffic, particularly with a nippy Kieran and Cory featuring in attack for the C's team. Matt and Rhys W., however both had solid games in defence, and with hat-trick hero Rory in fine shooting form the B's were just too strong on the day. Well done both teams. Quickest goal on record? ... Rhys B. scoring in the first 10 seconds of the match.
Squads -
B's - Finn, Rhys W., Matt, Chad, Dan, Rory, Rhys B.
C's - Sam, Jake, Nathan, Max, Francis, Kieran, Cory
12/11/2006 MAINDEE HOME 8 0 Rhys B (4), Nathan, Chad, Rhys W (2)
Good early pressure from Eveswell with a number of shots on goal from Rory and Dan, and this continued with Rhys B. scoring a hattrick, which saw the home team 5 nil up by half-time. Finn in goal was called upon to make a couple of lively stops but it was the Maindee keeper by far that had the busiest time and to be fair he had a great game. In the second half Eveswell continued their dominance with some slick interlinking play from defence through the midfield ending in yet more attempts on goal (couple of shots in particular from Finn, with Dan swapped into goalie duty) and probably the pick of the days goals from Rhys B grabbing his 4th. With Matt attempting a close impression of Norman 'bites yer legs' Hunter, a fine last ditch tackle from Rory and a good save from Dan, Maindee's attempts on goal were kept to a minimum. The coaches 5 minute rotation policy (beat that Rafa!) saw all of the boys get chances up front and it was good to see Nate, Chad and Rhys W. chalk up goals.
Squad - Finn, Rhys W., Matt, Chad, Nathan, Rory, Brandon, Dan, Rhys B.
10/12/2006 PILL HOME 2 7 OG, Nathan
A stong nippy Pill side, and the 'B's caught a cold ... nuff said!
Squad - Finn, Dan, Chad, Rhys W., Matt, Rhys B., Rory, Nathan, Brandon
28/01/2007 WHITEHEAD GRAIG HOME 9 0 Brandon (4), Rhys B (2), Rory (2), Finn
After a lonnng period with no competitive matches, the B's may have been forgiven for showing a few signs of rustiness, but No... not to be! The boys started their 2007 fixtures with a bang. Great passing and movement on display, some peach goals, and with everyone getting a chance to play in different positions, fun all round. A belated but excellent start to the new year:-
3 mins. - first of Brandon's goals following neat interchange with Rory
8 mins. - Brandon returns the favour and swings in a left wing corner to Rory, who shoots from a sharp angle to score a beaut.
10 mins. - Following a good move out of defence, Rhys B. picks up the ball and tries a long range shot.. 3 - 0 Eveswell!
It's all Eveswell now.. and Mark starts rolling substitutions so the lads get to play in different positions.
14 mins. - second goal from Brandon, left foot shot from the edge of the box.
Couple of shots just off target from Rhys B.
19 mins. - good interchange in midfield with Nathan involved ending with a Rhys W. shot just past the post. Closely followed by another goal from Rory in left channel.
20 mins. - goal line scramble and Matt hacks it away. Finn in goal has had very little to trouble him. Eveswell end the half well in control.. 5 - nil up.
24 mins. - 2nd half underway, Matt collects a ball on the right wing and passes into Finn waiting in the centre who spins and cracks in a great goal.
27 mins. - Brandon's hattrick from mid-channel. Swiftly followed by his 4th from the left side of the box. Definetly got his shooting boots on today!
30 mins. - Rhys B. passes the goalies shirt to Matt. Other notable positions swapped today include Rhys W. on the right wing, Chad lively in defense and midfield, Nathan up-front and on the right wing, and Matt and Finn in attack.
The rest of the match is seen out with some more slick wing play by Brandon on the left wing, and some frenetic goal mouth melees where half of the Eveswell team seemed to be lining up to shoot! Rory has a few tussles with one of the bigger Whitehead's boys but gives as good as he gets, and the oppostion are limited in the 2nd half to a couple of long range attempts.
38 mins. - final goal of the game, a long range strike from Rhys B. and that puts the icing on the cake for a fine all-round display from Eveswell B. Well done to all of the boys involved, and heres wishing Dan a speedy recovery from his chest infection.
Squad - Fin, Rhys W., Matt, Nathan, Rory, Rhys B., Brandon, Chad
25/03/2007 ROGERSTONE RANGERS A AWAY 4 0 Rhys B (2), Dan, Rory
match report to follow...
01/04/2007 CAERLEON A HOME 0 2
Another wind-swept Sunday, and a great game of footie by a make-shift Eveswell B team. The first half was fairly even with the away team just edging it to go in at half-time 1 nil up. The boys started the second half in determined mood to get back on level terms and they really dominated Caerleon throughout the last 20 minutes. Eveswell pressed the opposition into their own half for most of this period with neat passing, lots of committed running, and shots raining down on goal. An equaliser continued to be elusive however and Caerleon managed to sneek a second goal right in the last few minutes after a quick break from an Eveswell corner. On the balance of play Eveswell deserved at least a draw for the effort and commitment shown, but in truth it could easily have been a 4 or 5 goal win. That's football for you.
Some highlights:-
first 5 mins. - snap shot by Rory and another great chance from a weaving run just wide of the left post.
10 mins. - Caerleon hit the right hand post.
11 mins. - There's a magnet at work - Caerleon hit the right hand post again.
12 mins. - nice break from mid-field by Rory, ending in a Chad shot.
15 mins. - Goal Caerleon - shot from edge of box.
16 - 20 mins. - more Eveswell shots from Chad and Rhys B; some great covering defensive work from Finn, Rhys W., Matt and Gethin (borrowed from Caerleon!)
26 mins. - Cracking long range shot from Rhys B, looks a certain goal, but Caerleon keeper pulls off a tremendous save to knock the ball against the cross bar.
27 - 37 mins. - shot after shot but the Caerleon goal holds firm. Harry is having a great game down the left linking up well with Rhys W. Similarly Matt is pushing right up to link well with Chad in mid-field.
38 mins. - Caerleon break quickly and effectively from their own half and catch Eveswell out of position. Shot tucked away neatly into left corner of goal. 2 - 0 to the greens.
39 mins. - another quick break from Caerleon, but this time Finn is on to it & makes a great saving clearance.
40 mins. - Final whistle. A game of "ifs" & "maybes" for Eveswell but well done to the boys involved. The match was played in good spirit by both sides, and the Caerleon team played their part in an absorbing game.
Squad - Finn, Matt, Gethin (Caerleon - 1st half), Adam (Caerleon - 2nd half), Harry (2nd half), Rhys W., Chad, Rory, Rhys B.

'C' TEAM FIXTURES
15/10/2006 SPENCER BOYS HOME 0 2
Reflecting the large number of U8's currently with the club, we at long last saw the 'C' team make their debut this week-end. There were many encouraging aspects to this game, with Jake solid in defense, and keeper Sam having an exceptional game. This was a great start to their season.
Squad - Sam, Cori, CJ, Jack, Francis, Ciaran, Jake, Max, Abhi.
05/11/06 Rogerstone Away 2 1
With Sam having another excellent game in goals and a combination of Harry, Jack and Jake solid in defence, Eveswell were hard to break down and score against. In mid-field there was a couple of strong tackling and searching runs from Cori, Ciaran and Max, with Cori nearly scoring but was denied by a good save. Francis played at front which nearly resulted in a good goal but the goal keeper pulling off another good save. With all the pressure Rogerstone encounted it ended up them scoring an own goal in the first half. In the second half Rogerstone had a few chances to equalize and eventually they did but with the continuous pressure from Eveswell C, Rogerstone scored another own goal.
Well done! Good win! against a mixture of Rogerstones A, B and C team.
Squad - Sam, Harry, Jack, Jake, Cori, Max, Ciaran, Francis.
25/11/06 Garden City Away 4 4 Cori Busuttil, Harry Porter, Ciaran Thomas (2)
Despite the bad weather conditions Eveswell c locked horns with Garden City in an entertaining evenly matched game. In the first half speedster Cori's powerful running resulted in the first goal, but then Garden City replied with two of their own. In the second half Harry's excellent passing and corner kicks paid a good part in creating goals, he also made a couple of solid shots which the goalkeeper some how managed to keep out. Harry eventually split the defence and scored a good goal, then Garden City replied with another two. Max had an excellent game through out with some slick and skillfull running out wide. In defence C.J made some solid tackles and decisive clearances, Jake made some leg breaking tackles and powerfull runs(good potential). Jack had another great performance who is coming on leaps and bounds who knows his position and made some decisive tackles. Sam has blended well into the team and he made some vital and reflex saves. With Eveswell two goals down with two minutes to go I thought they had lost the game. With the determination from Eveswell they didn't give up and dug in deep, With the dynamite running of speedster Ciaran who scored a awesome goal. With one minute to go Francis made some good tackles and searching run's which invented in him making a thundering shot across the goals which speedster Ciaran finished off for his second goal to make the final score four a piece.

There was a debut for Daniel who had a lot of determination, good tackling and endless running. Eveswell under 8's went into the break 1-0 down.
In the second half Sam who had another excellent game in goals has brought stability and he is growing with every game. He made some unbelivable match winning saves. C.J played another hard tackling and solid game in defence. Harry played an exceptional game in different positions also Jake tried out different positions and proved he is a natural defender. Max had a good second half out wide. Speedster Ciaran and Cori made some good runs with Ciaran making some decisive tackles.
With only ten minutes to go eveswell under 8's were still 1-0 down, but with the grit and determination they didn't give up as usual. Harry passed the ball to Ciaran who passed it to Cori who ran the lenghth of the pitch with eveswell under 9's breathing down his neck, but because of his pace they couldn't catch him and he scored an excellent goal to level the match for a well deserved 1-1 draw.
Eveswell under 8's C have ended 2006 on a high. They have come on leaps and bounds. They are unbeaten in their last three games. Well done, have a nice christmas and keep it up for the new year.

Jake is a natural talent in defence who performed with great ability.
However it was Ciaren who broke the deadlock with the first goal of the game, which stunned the Cromwell team. Cromwell replied with three goals of their own to put Eveswell behind 3-1 at half time.
In the second half Cori made some nippy searching runs and scored a great goal to make it 3-2. Cori is now scoring goals for fun.
Max who is a versatile and stylish player, tricky and unpredictable scored a vicious long range goal to level the score 3-3. Well done Max first goal for Eveswell C and potential for many more.
Dan created opportunities and he consistently combined technical excellence with hard work. Very powerful player.
Francis had a great shot at goal only for their goalkeeper to pull off a good save.
However, towards the end of the game Cromwell pipped in two late goals to make the final score 5-3 to Cromwell.
