WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO TRYOUT FOR YOUR CLUB?
The following items will be required at registration on the first night of tryouts at both our North and South training sites:

1.  2009 GEVA Membership Form:  Prior to trying out with ANY club you MUST register ON LINE with GEVA.  GEVA (Garden Empire Volleyball Association) is the governing body for volleyball in the State and everyone must register for insurance purposes.

Please go to the GEVA website: www.geva.org and click on the Registration button at the top of the page. A drop down menu will appear, please click on "GEI Online" to get you to the proper screen.  DO NOT download this form from the "FORMS" link as you will not be entering your data online if you do it this way.

If you were registered last season with GEVA your old username and password should still work.
If you are new to GEVA please click where it says "New User" and follow the simple steps to register.

After you have entered or updated your information you should be able to print out your membership form.  Both the player and their parent or guardian need to sign in the appropriate areas and bring this completed form with you to tryouts.

**If you plan on trying out for more then one club then you will have to print out this form again and bring it with you to every club tryout you attend.

You are no longer able to pay online as you were last season so please DO NOT bring any checks made payable to GEVA with you.

2.  2009 USAV Medical Form:  You can find this form by clicking on the "Registration" link on the top of the GEVA website.  Once the drop down menu appears click on the "Forms" button which will bring you to the page where you can print this form out. Please  fill in as much information as possible and hand it in at registration.

3.  Essex VBC Tryout Form:  This form is now available for download on our website under our "Handouts" section, otherwise it will also be available at registration.

4. Tryout  Fee: $50.00 for players trying out for our SOUTH teams.
    Please make your checks payable to "Essex Volleyball Club"

We will have a limited number of extra forms available at registration.

Please note that we will be unable to allow a player to participate in our tryouts if she does not provide us with the appropriate paperwork on the first night.

TRYOUT DATES AND TIMES: 

Essex SOUTH teams train out of Scotch Plains, New Jersey.  These teams will train once a week on Sundays for the season.

Essex SOUTH tryout dates and times are as follows:

Note:  Please note that we will not be offering a 18 & under team at this location 

Dates:
Sunday, November 30th
Sunday, December 7th

Times:  Times will remain the same for both tryout dates
7:00pm - 8:30pm - All players interested in trying out for our 15 & under team
8:30pm - 10:00pm - All players interested in trying out for our 16 or 17 and under teams

PARENTS MEETINGS:  It is recommended that a parent or guardian attend one of these meetings to receive important information about our upcoming club season especially those parents new to our club. 

Essex SOUTH Parents Meeting:  Sunday, November 30th - 2 times slots - Union Catholic
7:15pm for our 15 & under parents
8:15pm for our 16 and 17 and under parents

CLUB FEES:  
Essex North 15, 16, 17 and 18 and under teams:  $1800.00
Essex North 14 & under team: $1350.00
Essex South: 15, 16, and 17 and under teams: $1450.00 

All teams will compete in the monthly GEVA tournaments as well as participate in either the Happy Volley Club Championships held at Penn State University over Memorial Day weekend or another sleepover tournament during the course of the season.

TEAMS OFFERED:

For the 2008-2009 season we plan on offering the following teams and clinics:

                        18 & under team -  North location only
                        17 & under teams - North and South locations
                        16 & under teams - North and South locations
                        15 & under teams - North and South locations
                        14 & under team -  North location only
                        14 & under clinic -  Possible at South location
                        12 & under clinic/team - North location only
                       High School Girls Training Only Clinic - South location only for now 

Time:  6:00pm - 7:45pm

Site: East Brook Middle School, Paramus, NJ

Cost: $700.00  - $100.00 will be due on the first night

Any paperwork required will be available at site - you do not need to register online or print out any forms as listed above- those are for our older age level teams.

                        HISTORY OF THE ESSEX VOLLEYBALL CLUB

The South Orange Maples Volleyball Club was founded back in 1978 by Mr. Eugene Chyzowych former volleyball coach at Columbia High School. The Maples was initially founded to keep the members of the Columbia High School Volleyball Team training year round. Due to this training the Columbia High School Volleyball Team was the most dominant team in the State during the 1970's through the 1990's.

In the 1990's the Maples opened their doors to other neighboring schools in the area to give other girls a chance to train year round.
 
In 2000 the club expanded into the Bergen County area and the Essex Volleyball Club was founded to incorporate both the Maples and Essex Volleyball teams under one club name.

Distinguishing itself as one of the oldest programs in the State the Maples have enjoyed a rich tradition of success in training high school volleyball players. During the season the teams compete in regional tournaments as well as the East Coast Championships.

The Essex Volleyball Club is a non profit organization that specializes in technique and skill training. It is an alternative to the many clubs in New Jersey that play a National schedule and are more expensive and time consuming.

The clubs philosophy allows the athlete to receive exceptional training and coaching in the sport of volleyball while still allowing them to experience other interests while as a member of the club. It is our goal to improve each individual players skill level and knowledge of the game.
