Age Determination Date Clarification

ESLL Baseball Families,

I hope you are having a wonderful fall. Baseball season is right around the corner with signups in early December!! We are so excited to start.

The 2015 season will bring lots of change. We hope to have a new website with possible integration with a score keeping tool, a new registration system, new email system, new email contacts for the league, a new registration process, and changes at the snack bar including accepting credit cards during the season.

We are hoping Closing Ceremonies will involve all the players from rookie to Majors. More to come on the changes and improvements!!

Speaking of changes, many of you are on the Little League International email distribution list and received an email on 11/19 about the age determination date.

Earlier this year, Little League International Congress passed a change to the age determination date from 4/30 to 12/31 of the current seaso.

Little League was going to implement this in 2018. We were very aware of the rule and had been analyzing it, assessing the impact, and coming up with options on how to handle it based on the impact.

In fact, it was the main topic of the November ESLL Board meeting on Tuesday, 11/18/2015.

Much to the Little League community's surprise, Little League International sent out the below email informing the leagues and the general public that the rule would be implemented immediately. In addition, Little League changed the implementation approach and details.

The change included making it effectively immediately and the change in date would only impact players born after 1/1/2006. All other players are unaffected by this change.

We are working expeditiously to assess the impact of the new implementation for the impending 2015 season. We understand this will impact the children of this league.

We are determining the best way to implement this change in conjunction with the ESLL local age guidelines for our divisions.

If there are any questions, please contact us at our new email address: info@elsegundolittleleague.org

Thanks,

Peter Gianusso
