Escalon Times Article 11/11/2009
The Escalon Outlaws Varsity squad traveled to Mariposa for the 2009 TVYFL Super Bowl.
The undefeated Outlaws facedan equally tough opponent in the Central Saints. The Escalon offense was led with nice runs by Joshua Redding, Jordan Powell, Frankie Bavaro, and Julian Young. The running backs were able to gain a few extra yards thanks to the up-front blocking by Jared Wall, Jack Ballard, Blaine Nebe, Blake Morrow, and Stephen Silveira. The Saints defense kept the typically explosive Outlaw offense to minimal yards and out of the end zone. On defense, Lance Davis, Owen Pangilinan, Ben Hood, and Lestat Velasquez led the team with tackles. Tyler Lawrence contributed with a pass interception. The Outlaws could not contain the Saints squad and lost 38-0.
In the last two years, the record of thisOutlaw team was an impressive 21 wins and 1 loss. The majority of the Varsitysquad are headed for High School next year. The community of Escalon can be assured that the Outlaw program has prepared these athletes for the next level.
The Varsity Cheerleaders showcased their athleticism by performing two half-time routines. The exciting performance, which included dance and stunt, brought the crowd to their feet.

On Saturday, The Escalon Outlaws hosted the TVYFL Play-off games at Engel Field. The Novice squad played the Tracy Buccaneers and the Varsity faced off against the Manteca Buffaloes.
The Novice squad got off to a great start when Bronson Harmon recovered the opening kick-off. With nice runs by Tyler Voral, and Bronson Harmon, Parker Cosby scored a touchdown with a one-yard run. Contributing to the offense was Quarterback Justice Naraghi who completed passes to Estephan Salcedo, Curt Gumbs, Jacob Alvarado, and Christian Roche. The Outlaw defense was led by Roche, Alvarado, Edward Fritzler, and Brandon Levin. Putting the ball back in Outlaw hands was Salcedo by intercepting a pass and Fritzler with a fumble recovery. Late in the third quarter, Bronson Harmon returned a kick-off 65-yards for a touchdown. The Novice team played a great game, however, the Buccaneers prevailed 43-12. Outlaw CheerleadersKylee Dubois, Kayleigh Inman, Amanda Rickman, and Alyssa Salcedo kept their team spirited throughout the game.
The Outlaw Varsity continued their quest for a perfect season. Leading the offensive charge were Joshua Redding, Jordan Powell, and Frankie Bavaro. Bavaro and Julian Young both scored running touchdowns in the second quarter. Quarterback Jacob Danhoff had a nice day passing for 130-yards and finding receivers in Ryan Espinoza, Jacob Salvador, Owen Pangilinan, Lance Davis, and Powell. Danhoff also scored a one-yard touchdown on a quarterback sneak. Thomas Diniz contributed to the scoring by adding three successful extra-point kicks. On the other side of the ball, Lance Davis, Lestat Velasquez, Ben Hood,Jordan Powell, and Frankie Bavaro led the defense. Adding key plays were Thomas Diniz and Lance Davis each recovering fumbles. Davis also recorded a quarterback sack and pass interception. The Outlaw Varsity squad won 24-14. Cheerleaders Madysen Costa, HaleighCordeiro, and Mikenna Roark kept the crowd on their feet.
Next week, the Escalon Outlaw Varsity squad will travel to Mariposa for the TVYFL Super Bowl. They will play the Central Saints at 7pm.

The Escalon Outlaws hosted the Ripon Chiefs for their final home game of the 2009 season.
The afternoon opened with the Junior Novice squad. Running backs Henry Fritzler and Austin Faria led the offence with 67 and 59 yards rushingrespectively. The first quarter found Fritzler fighting hard, pushing into the end zone for the first touchdown of the day. Faria, who has become the ‘king of the reverse’, surprised the Chiefs by scoring two fourth quarter touchdowns. Maximus Steele’s powerful movement of the ball contributed toward each goal. The Outlaws defense recorded hard tackles byboth Faria and Fritzler. Also contributing to the defensive strengthwere Dylan Ruiz and Grant Pearce. Fumble recoveries were captured by Austin Narayan and Fritzler. Although the Junior Novice doesn’t keep score, they played a great game. Outlaw Cheerleaders Tess Cosby, Meadow Naraghi, Mckenzie Jones, and Madison Matsunami kept their team spirited throughout the game.
The Outlaw Novice team provided their crowd with an exhilarating game. Bronson Harmon led the offence with 109 total yards and two touchdowns. Parker Cosby ran for a total of 57 yards, scored one touchdown and connected with a pass from QB Justice Naraghi. Chance Bollen raised the score with three extra point kicks. A fourth quarter on side kick recovery by Curt Gumbs and interception by Steven Grossi continued the Outlaw momentum. The defense held the Chiefs with hard hits by Jacob Alvarado, Estephan Salcedo, Harmon and Gumbs. The Novice won 24-22 and will advance to the playoff games. Cheerleaders Brielle Arauza, Grace Fitzgerald and Amanda Salvador rallied the crowd to their feet during the final minutes of the game.
The Junior Varsity team kept the fans on their feet as well. Brandon Grogan led the offence with 103 yards rushing, 116 yards receiving, scoring three touchdowns and placing one extra point kick between the goal posts. QB Caleb Mullen completed 5 passes for a total of 134 yards, including an 18 yard pass to Garrett Denczek. The entire defense worked hard to hold an aggressive Chiefs team. Billy Marr, Adam Roberson, Christian May, Garrett Denczek and Brandon Grogan each recorded multiple defensive tackles. The Junior Varsity lost 20-22. Cheerleaders Chloe Bates, Jaresley Guillen, Abigail Duarte and Serena Martinez never gave up on their team and kept the crowd in the game!
The Varsity team completed the 2009 season undefeated. Their final win secured home field advantage during playoffs. Joshua Redding and Julian Youngled the offence. Redding logged 88 yards rushing, 9 yards passing, a 41 yard interception return and one touchdown. Young had 68 yards rushing and scored one touchdown. QB Ben Hood completed three passes for a total of 49 yards, two of which were caught by Owen Pangilinan. Jordan Powell and Lestat Velasquez each logged multiple caries. On the other side of the ball, Powell and Lance Davis led with tackles. Strong defensive contributions were made by Joshua Redding, Julian Young, JT Payan, Wesley Dick and Justin Inman. A majority of the Outlaws Varsity team are headed for High School next year. The community of Escalon can be assured that the tradition of High School excellence is guaranteed. The leadership of Varsity Cheerleaders Tanner Bredal, Christine Wright and Kayla Swanson helped keep the crowd in the game.
The Outlaw Novice and Varsity squads will play in the play-off games in Escalon Saturday, October 31st. The Novice game is at 11am and the Varsity plays at 3pm.
On Sunday, the Outlaw Varsity cheerleaders competed at the JAMZ Reload Competition at the University of Pacific. They received a first place trophy in the ‘Funk/Hip Hop’ division and another first place in ‘Show Cheer’. With their high scores, the Varsity squad qualified for the JAMZ Nationals which are held in Las Vegas, NV in January 2010. Congratulations!

The Escalon Outlaws celebrated their homecoming game by hosting the Manteca Buffaloes.
The Junior Novice squad kicked the afternoon off to a great start. Henry Fritzler found the end zone twice on short runs. Jared Tavares and Maximus Steele contributed with nice runs of their own. The coaching staff proved they still have a few tricks up their sleeves. With great up-front blocking,Austin Faria took a reverse 25-yards for a touchdown. On their next possession,quarterback Carson Grogan handed the ballto Faria who threw a long pass downfield to Fritzler for a 40-yard score. On defense, Austin Faria, Noah Rast, and Adarine Groves each recovered a fumble. Grant Pearce, Dylan Ruiz, and Faria led the team with tackles. Performances by this young defense ensures many more years of Escalon powerhouse football.
Once again the Novice team gave their crowd a great game. It was a back and forth battle between both teams until late in the third quarter. After strong runs by Bronson Harmon, Tyler Voral and Curt Gumbs, Parker Cosby scored on a 1-yard touchdown. Chance Bollen added 2-points with a successful extra-point kick. The Outlaw defense put tremendous pressure on the Buffaloes quarterback. Edward Fritzler recorded two sacks and Jacob Alvarado and Brandon Levin each had one of their own. Putting the football back in Outlaw hands was Cole Gilbert when he recovered a fumble. The Novice squad defeated the Buffaloes 8-0.
The Outlaws JV squad over-powered the Manteca team on both sides of the ball. On offense, the Escalon team spread the ball around with Billy Marr, Chase Tompson, and Christian May each had touchdown runs. Quarterback Caleb Mullen threw a 12-yard pass to Garrett Denczek for six points. Brandon Grogan caught a punt and ran it back 50-yards for an Outlaw touchdown. The defense was led by May, Grogan, Adam Roberson, and Trenton Busch. Hunter Calton intercepted a pass and returned it for an exciting 60-yard touchdown. Contributing to the defense was Jesse Talamantes for a fumble recovery and Denczek intercepting a pass. The JV won 46-6.
The Varsity team didn’t disappoint the Outlaw crowd, providing them with a clean sweep. Leading the offense was Joshua Redding. Frankie Bavaro and Julian Young each ran in a touchdown and Jordan Powell scored twice with nice runs of his own. The Outlaws were able to run up and down the field all night thanks to the up-front blocking by Blaine Nebe, Jack Ballard, Blake Morrow, Stephen Silveira, and Jared Wall. With his golden leg, Thomas Diniz added four extra-point kicks. The Escalon defense was led by Redding, Lestat Velasquez, and Owen Pangilinan. Also contributing was Austin Atwood with a sack, Lance Davis recovered a fumble, and Tyler Lawrence intercepted a pass. The Varsity won 32-6.
The cheerleaders lit up the field with a great color scheme. At each halftime they performed dance routines with style and excitement. This year’s theme was“Kickin’ it Old School”.
Good luck to the Varsity Cheer team who will be attending their first competition next weekend at the University of Pacific.
The Outlaws next game will be Saturday, October 24th at Engel Field. They face the Ripon Chiefs and game times are 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm.

The Escalon Outlaws hosted the Tracy Buccaneers on Saturday, October 3rd.
The Junior Novice squad started the day off against a tough Tracy team. On offense, Quarterback Carson Grogan completed passes to Austin Faria and Henry Fritzler. Tight end Brodey Mauk made a nice block which allowed Fritzler to score a touchdown on an 11-yard run. Several nice defensive plays were made by Fritzler, Faria, Maximus Steele, and Miguel Souza. The Outlaw defense forced three turn-over’s. Adarine Groves and Austin Narayan each recovered a fumble and Jared Tavares intercepted a pass. Although the Jr. Novice division does not keep score, they played a great game.
The Outlaw Novice team could not get it started against a quick Tracy squad. Bronson Harmon, Curt Gumbs, and Tyler Voral had nice runs on offense. The defense was led by Jacob Alvarado, Eric Campbell, Rhys Panero, Harmon, and Gumbs. A few defensive highlights in the game were a fumble causing hit by Jacob Alvarado and recovered by Cole Franks. Chance Bollen had an excitinginterception and late in the second quarter, Eric Campbell recovered a fumble. The Novice squad lost 30-0. Never giving up hope and cheering for their team were Outlaw Cheerleaders Kiana Anchieta, Ashlynn Ewing, Jessikka Morgan, and Lacey Doggett.
The Outlaw JV squad gave it a valiant effort, but came up short. Brandon Grogan, Garrett Denczek, Cameron Dubois, and Chase Tompson had nice runs on offense. In the second quarter, Outlaw tight end Robert Rickman made a nice block which helped Denczek break free on a 24-yard touchdown run. The Escalon defense was led by Billy Marr, Brandon Grogan, Chris Pilcher, Christian May, and JoJo Dutra. Outlaws safety Caleb Mullen recovered a fumble late in the second quarter. The Junior Varsity squad lost a hard fought game 19-6. Keeping the crowd on their feet were Cheerleaders Julianna Antonacci, Hailey Griffith, Jaqueline Perez, and Raquel Wooley.
The Varsity squad dominated the game from the moment they stepped onto Engel Field. Running backs Frankie Bavaro, Jordan Powell, and Thomas Diniz each had touchdown runs. Julian Young broke free for a 39-yard score and Joshua Reddingmade a nice cut-back to find the end zone on a 62-yard touchdown run. Diniz added to the scoring with four successful extra-point kicks. The Outlaw defense was touch once again and only gave up one touchdown. Leading the way on tackles were Lance Davis, Lestat Velasquez, Jordan Powell, Julian Young, and Luis Estrada. Also contributing with an interception and a 45-yard return was Colton Crawford and Tyler Lawrence recovering a fumble. The Outlaws won 38-8. Escalon Cheerleaders Michaela Pence and Adrianna Reyes performed an outstanding halftime routine.
The Escalon Outlaws have a bye next week. The next game, which is their Homecoming, will be October 17th against the Manteca Buffaloes. Games times are 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm.

The Escalon Outlaws hosted the Mountain House Panthers on Saturday, September 26.
The Junior Novice squad kicked the afternoon off against a quick Panther team. Grant Pearce and Austin Nayrayan led the defense, while Adarine Groves and Dylan Parks each recorded a fumble recovery. On Offense, Austin Faria found the end zone for a second quarter score and as time expired before the half, Quarterback Carson Grogan ran 30 yards for a touchdown. In the fourth quarter, Maximus Steele had several nice runs which set up a 15-yard touchdown run by Steven Gately. Cheerleaders Ashley Levin, Amelia Nevarez, Ashleigh Rickman,and Hailie Webster showed outstandingspirit on the sidelines.
The Novice game was a back and forth battle in the first half. The Outlaws managed to put 6-points on the board from a 10-yard touchdown run by Parker Cosby. In the second half, the Escalon team came out with renewed life. Cosby added a quick touchdown run and Bronson Harmon found the end zone after a 19-yard dash. Running back Hunter VanBoven had a few nice runs to set-up touchdowns by Tyler Voral and Curt Gumbs. The up-front blocking from Moises Calais, Elliott Mello, Cole Gilbert, Jake Lawrence, and Paul Ayala made the offensive production possible. The Outlaw defense was led by Jacob Alvarado, Elliot Mello, Cuyler Crawford, Nicolas Warren, and Rex Robbins. Brandon Levin and Jacob Alvarado sacked the quarterback and Jake Lawrence returned a fumble 30-yards. The Novice team celebrated an inspired effort by winning 39-12. Outlaw Cheerleaders Ashley Gomez, Madison Kimble, Kaitlyn Matsunami, and Amanda Rickman fired up the crowd with their halftime routine.
The Outlaws JV squad took control of the game as soon as they stepped onto the field. Thanks to the up-front blocking by Max Nevarez, Styles Madrid, Blue Capps, Logan Widmer, Timothy Wallace, and Nicholas Alvarado the running backs were allowed to have a big day. At the start of the third quarter, Hunter Calton took the kick-off 70-yards for a touchdown. The defense was led by Styles Madrid, Cameron Dubois, Jacob Perata, and Joseph Dunn. The Outlaw defense forced two turn-over’s with a fumble recovery by Chris Pilcher and interception by Styles Madrid. Daniel Wallace, Trent Avilla, and Justice Redding also made nice defensive tackles. The Outlaws won 50-0. The JV Cheerleaders were joined by JAMZ Cheer and Dance staff for their halftime routine. The crowd was on their feet for the great performance by Paige Fisher, Serena Martinez, Avery Mello, and Kelsey Miller.
The Varsity squad had no trouble with the Panthers. On their first possession, the offense marched the ball down the field and scored on a 21-yard pass from Jacob Danhoff to Owen Pangilinan. The Outlaws scored five more times with touchdown runs by Tyler Lawrence, Thomas Diniz,Julian Young, and two for JT Payan. The Escalon defense was just as dominating as their offense. Tyler Lawrence intercepted a pass and Eric Grammatico recovered a fumble. Keeping the Panthers out of the end zone were Lestat Velasquez, Zach Hernandez, Joshua Redding, Jared Wall, and Stephen Silveira. The Outlaws defeated the Panthers 44-0. Great job by Varsity Cheerleaders Kayla Swanson, Ashley Avila, and Edelia Lopez.

The Outlaws were on the road again this week where they faced off with theModesto Patriots on Saturday.
The Escalon Junior Novice got the day started against a strong Patriots team. The Outlaw defense kept the game close during the first half with outstanding plays by Grant Pearce, Austin Faria, Jared Tavares, and Carter Moorehead. Maximus Steele, Henry Fritzler, and Austin Narayan each recorded a fumble recovery. In the fourth quarter, the Junior Novice offense came alive. Austin Faria ran a reverse around the outside for a fifteen yard score. On their next possession with only 27 seconds left in the game, Quarterback Carson Grogan ran 5 yards on a broken play and found the end zone for a touchdown. Although the Junior Novice doesn’t keep score, their fans enjoyed an exciting game. Outlaw Cheerleaders Hannah Boyd, Kaylee Crawford, Marissa Gonzalez, and Lexy Underwood kept the fans in the game by showing their spirit.
The Outlaw Novice game was another nail biter. The defense was led by Bronson Harmon, Stephen Mendez, Edward Fritzler, and Curt Gumbs. The Patriots took a 13-0 lead into halftime, however, the Escalon team came out fired up. Great defensive plays by Estephan Salcedo, Steven Grossi, Travis Brodie, and Cole Gilbert kept the score within reach. The offensive squad had nice runs by Parker Cosby, Tyler Voral, and Bronson Harmon. In the fourth quarter, Harmon took a handoff from Justice Naraghi 21-yards for six-pointscutting the Patriot lead to one touchdown. The Outlaws tried to mount a last minute drive for the win, but they ran out of time. The Patriots won 6-13.On the sidelines, Outlaw CheerleadersTabitha Bates, Brooklyn Berry, Ashley Carreira, and Lily Franks inspired the crowd.
The Junior Varsity dominated the Patriots on both sides of the ball. On the opening offensive drive, Billy Marr and Christian May set-up strong runs for a 13-yard pass from Caleb Mullen to BrandonGrogan for the first score. Austin Cowdery recovered the ensuing kick-off from the Patriots to put the ball back in Outlaw hands. Quarterback Caleb Mullen proved Escalon has a strong air attack as well and found three receivers in Jo Jo Dutra, May, and Grogan for a total of 87-yards passing and three touchdowns. Also contributing to the offensive strike wereHunter Calton, Cameron Dubois and Frankie Warren. During the entire game thedefense held firm, with outstanding plays by Adam Roberson, Billy Marr, Paxton Brogan, and Justice Redding. A few highlights were provided by Garrett Denczek who intercepted a pass, Chris Pilcher and Adam Roberson recorded a sack, and Brandon Grogan picked up a fumble and ran it back 53-yards for a touchdown. The Outlaws defeated the Patriots 42-12. Cheerleaders Paige Fisher, Avery Mello, Kelsey Miller, and Jaqueline Perez performed flawlessly during their halftime routine.
The Varsity team arrived in Modesto with their “A game”. On offense, Joshua Redding and Julian Young each had touchdown runs of over 60-yards. Frankie Bavaro scored twice and Lestat Velasquez found the end zone as well. Contributing with nice runs of their own were JT Payan, Colton Camara, and Austin Cooper. The up-front blocking from Tristan Bunting, Max Hernandez, Boo Corriea, Travis Parks, and Cody Canalita made the Outlaw scoring machine possible. The Escalon defense was led by Lance Davis, Lestat Velasquez, Jared Wall, and Clayton Akers. Frankie Bavaro recovered a fumble, Jordan Powell sacked the quarterback, and rounding out the trifecta was Thomas Diniz with an interception. Playing tough on special-teams were Austin Martinez and Zach Hernandez who each recording a tackle. The Outlaws won 38-6. Dazzling the crowd with their halftime routine were cheerleaders Sierra Artiaga, Spencer Borba, Courtney Furtado, and Azaelya Souza.
The Outlaws next game will be Saturday, September 26 in Escalon against the Mountain House Panthers. Game times are 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7 p.m.

The Escalon Outlaws hosted a successful home opener against the Modesto Christian Kingsmen on Saturday.
The afternoon opened with the Junior Novice squad. Running back, Henry Fritzler had a huge day on offense. Fritzler had a total of five touchdowns,two of which netted runs of over 35-yards. Quarterback Carson Grogan completed two passes to Austin Faria and one to Steven Gately to keep the Kingsmen defense on their toes. Damien Tom had several nice blocks, allowing a strong offensive showing. The Outlaw’s defense was equally solid with outstanding plays by Miguel Souza, Grant Pearce, and Adarine Groves. David Fleming and Austin Narayan each recorded a fumble recovery. In the closing seconds of the third quarter, Noah Rast made a touchdown saving tackle. Although the Junior Novice doesn’t keep score, they played a great game. Outlaw Cheerleaders Mckenzie Jones, Meadow Naraghi, and Madison Matsunami showed fantastic spirit throughout the day.
The Outlaw Novice team provided theircrowd the most exciting game of the day. Both the Outlaws and Kingsmen battledwith strong defensive stands. The Escalon defense was led by Jacob Alvarado, Rhys Panero, Ryan Langford, Jovany Gutierrez, and Stuart Brogan. The Kingsmen gained momentum late in the second quarter but Parker Cosby answered with a key 4th down sack. The Kingsmen took a 7-0 lead into halftime, howeverlate in the third quarter Cosby broke free for a 29-yard touchdown run and Tyler Voral added the extra point to tie the game. As the game wound down, overtime seemed inevitable. With less than two minutes remaining in the game,Outlaw defensive players Brandon Levin and Cosby sacked the quarterback. The Outlaws had one last chance for the win. With 17 seconds remaining, Quarterback Justice Naraghi capped it off with a pass to Bronson Harmon who ran 31-yards for a touchdown. The Outlaws won 13-7. Cheerleaders Kylee Dubois, Jenna Gonzales, Kayleigh Inman, and Alyssa Salcedo kept the crowd on their feet.

The Outlaw scoring was made possible by the tough offensive line lead by Dustin Lawrence, Austin Cowdery, Chris Pilcher, Isaac Danhoff, Trenton Camara, and Jesse Talamantes. The Outlaws won 46-0. The JV Cheerleaders performed their new “Celebration” routine at halftime with outstanding stunts byTaylor Dimas, Camrin McCoy, Carlesse Mims, Kaylyn Radford, and Juliya Roche.

Varsity Cheerleaders Haleigh Cordeiro, Clare Fitzgerald, Sierra Gonzalez, and Chrissy Zerr kept the fans in the stands during their exciting halftime performance.

The Outlaws were on the road again this week where they faced off with the Salida Steelers on Saturday.
The Escalon Junior Novice got the day started against a tuff Steelers team. The Salida defenders couldn’t stop HenryFritzler’s power-running, and he found the end zone twice for touchdowns. Steven Gatley and Maximus Steele also had several strong runs of their own. Making some great tackles on defense were Austin Faria, David Fleming, Austin Narayan, Matthew Spurgeon, and Henry Fritzler. James Wentzell nearly intercepted a deep pass and prevented a sure Steelers touchdown. Although the Junior Novice doesn’t keep score, they played a great game. Outlaw Cheerleaders Ariel Astabie, Tess Cosby, Kimberly Dick, and Kaladaya Johnson kept the fans in the game by showing their spirit.
The Novice squad controlled the game by keeping the ball on the ground led by their tough running backs Parker Cosby and Tyler Voral. Bronson Harmon broke free from a tackle and ran for a 30-yard touchdown. Due to excellent blocking by the Outlaw linemen, Estephan Salcedo ran for a 20-yard touchdown. Christian Roche used his speed to outrun the defenders for a 37-yard score. To cap the scoring off, Quarterback Lucciano Dutra handed the ball to Curt Gumbs who ran for anexciting 66-yard touchdown. Cosby ran in two of the extra points and Chance Bollen showed his kicking ability by adding twoextra-point field goals. The Outlaw defense was led by Jacob Alvarado, Mark Espinoza, Evan Nunes, and Justin Peterson. The Steelers realized they could not run the ball on the tough Outlaw defense, so they attempted to go to the air. However, they were stopped by defensive backs Curt Gumbs who had two interceptions and Estephan Salcedo whohad one as well. Brandon Levin recorded a quarterback sack and Chance Bollen recovered a fumble assuring Escalon’s 30-6 win. Great job by cheerleaders Rachael Towner, Donna Jewel Ring, Morgan Reider, Paola Mier, and Danielle Lawrence.
The Junior Varsity squad continued theirdominance with Christian May running fortwo touchdowns, one for 57-yards and the other at 11-yards. Timothy Costa and Cameron Puthoff each added touchdown runs of their own. Quarterback Andrew Gastello completed passes to Hashem Naraghi and Puthoff for short gains. Gastello threw a pass to Hunter Calton who dodged a few tackles for a 15-yardscore. Brandon Grogan had a 28-yard touchdown run and he added five extra point field goals to round out the day. On the other side of the ball, Garrett Denczek, Chris Pilcher, Jesse Talamantes, Christian Fernandez, and Daniel Gonzalezmade big Outlaw tackles. When the running game wasn’t working, the Steelers tried to test the defensive backs. JoJo Dutra broke-up two pass plays and Hashem Naraghi made a nice open field tackle. Brandon Grogan recorded three quarterback sacks and Adam Roberson blocked one pass and had one sack as well. The Junior Varsity team won 46-0. The JV Cheerleaders halftime routine was flawless with outstanding performances by Moriah May, Kelli Armstrong, Shelby Bond, Abigail Duarte, and Krysten Rose.
The Escalon Varsity squad played a solid game on both sides of the ball that led to a well-played 24-12 victory. Joshua Redding got the Outlaws on the board with a 20-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Jacob Danhoff threw a 5-yard touchdownpass to Owen Pangilinan in the closing seconds prior to half-time. Late in the fourth quarter, Redding had another 20-yard run for a touchdown. Each of the Outlaw touchdowns were set-up by runs from Jordan Powell, Julian Young, and Thomas Diniz. Diniz was successful with all three of his extra point kicks. The Outlaw defense proved strong again with solid tackles by Lestat Velasquez, Lance Davis, Ben Hood, and Austin Atwood. Diniz made a couple of nice open field tackles and Davis recorded a quarterback sack. Varsity cheerleaders Madysen Costa, N’dia Madrid, Kaitlyn Anderson, Mikenna Roark, and Kymi Tompson kept the crowd on their feet rooting on the Outlaws to another victory.
The Outlaws first home game will be next Saturday, September 12 against the Modesto Christian Kingsman. Game times are 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7 p.m.
