EMPORIA SPARTAN FOOTBALL: Tailgating

The Emporia Football Boosters are encouraging all Spartan Fans to join them in front of the high school on Friday at 4:30 pm to give our EHS Spartan Football Team a send off to remember as they board the bus to head to the college to prepare for their second playoff game. This is certain to be an exciting game against Hutchinson.  The Boosters are wanting to pump the boys up before the game and let them know how much support they have.  Please join everyone Friday and spread the word. Also, due to the forecast calling for cold and rainy weather, Emporia Football Boosters are teaming up with Gambino’s to tailgate on Friday before the EHS Spartans take on the Hutchinson Salthawks.  This will give everyone a chance to eat before the game and visit with friends and family.  Gambino’s will have a buffet set up from 5:00-7:00 pm and donate 10% of the proceeds to the Emporia Football Boosters.  Please forward this on to friends and family.  Thank you in advance for all your support of the Emporia High Football Team!!

I hope everyone is ready to kick off this Friday’s game with another tailgate.  We will start at 5:30 pm and will be serving walking tacos.  Food suggestions to bring are corn chips, grated cheese, salsa, salad, fruit or dessert.  Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair and drink.  The cost will be the same - $5.00 per couple.  The red tent will be set up by the tennis courts.  Please contact Booster President, Karen Brown-Gentz, by Thursday, 12:00 noon, with how many are attending and what you are bringing to ensure we have enough for everyone.  Thank you.

Also, we are having a BLACK OUT Friday for this week’s home game.  We are asking everyone to wear black in support of the Spartans.  We will be promoting this on the radio and at EHS.  Hopefully we can fill the stands with lots of black and cheer the Emporia High Football team to another victory.

DISTRICT CHAMPS – HOW EXCITING!!  What an awesome game to watch last Friday night.  This Friday will be another exciting game and I hope everyone can join us for the tailgate party before the game.  We will be set up south of the tennis courts and start at 5:15 pm.  We will have face painting so bring the kids out to get their faces decorated in support of the Spartans.  The EHS cheerleaders will be performing and hopefully the EHS Band as well to help get the parents and fans pumped up for the game. 

Since we have had such good luck the last two Fridays when we had barbecue food, we’re going to try our luck again.  We’re going to serve barbecue pulled pork and turkey from Bad Ol’ Bern’s BBQ.  Food suggestions to bring are cheesy potatoes, baked beans, pasta salad, chips, fruit or dessert.  The cost will be $5.00 per person.  Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair and drink.  It will be very important to have an accurate headcount so please e-mail me back by Wednesday evening with how many are attending and what you are bringing.  Thank you.

What a great Kick-Off District Game Win over Topeka West!!  Hopefully our second District game this Friday will end in an Emporia High win also.  This Friday’s Tailgate will start at 5:30 pm and will be set up south of the tennis courts.  We will be serving barbecue ribs which Todd Parks will be smoking for us so when you see Todd please give him a big thank-you.  The cost will be $6.00 per person and everyone can paid Todd.  Food suggestions to bring are baked beans, cole slaw, fruit, chips, or dessert.  Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair and drink.  It will be very important to have an accurate headcount so please e-mail me back by Wednesday evening, 6:00 p.m., with how many are attending and what you are bringing.  Thank you.

Kesston’s 10^th Birthday is Friday so I was hoping everyone could help us celebrate.  I will be bringing a birthday cake with candles and hope the wind isn’t blowing like last Friday.

This week will be an exciting week with Homecoming – Mardi Gras Madness! 

A lot of people will want to watch the Homecoming Parade so this Friday’s Tailgate Party will be held at 920 Commercial Street in front of Pete Euler’s State Farm Insurance office.  The tailgate party will start at 5:00 pm and the Homecoming Parade starts at 5:30 pm.  We will be serving sub sandwiches.  Food suggestions to bring are fruit, chips, any type of salad or dessert.  Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair and drink. 

The cost will be the same - $5.00 per couple.  Please e-mail me back by Wednesday evening with how many are attending so I make sure to order enough sandwiches.

What a great win last Friday night against the Hayden Wildcats.  I hope everyone can make the drive to Junction City this Friday, September 18 and support the Spartans when they take on the Blue Jays.

SPARTAN FEST - September 11, 2009 EHS Football Boosters, It's finally here - 2009 Spartan Football.

The OPENING HOME game will be held on Friday, September 11, at the ESU Football Stadium.  The Spartans are 1-0 defeating Topeka High last Friday. 

To help kick-off the OPENING HOME game, we are hosting a community tailgate event "SPARTAN FEST".  Load-up the family and neighbors and lets all help spread the Spartan Spirit! 

The tailgate will be held at the ESU Tennis Courts located just west of the Football Stadium.  We will be serving Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chips and a Drink starting at 5:00 PM.  Cost per ticket is $3.00.

What a great way to kick off your Friday Nights before the Spartans take the field.

Come join the Spartan Booster Club, Family, and Friends as we tailgate before every game this season. 

The tent will be set up approximately 90 minutes before kickoff for you to eat, drink, and socialize. 

Tailgate information will be posted on this website no later than Tuesday night before each game and weekly e-mails will be sent out as well.  As in years past, the main dish is supplied and everyone participating is asked to bring a side dish and $5.00 to help cover the cost of the main dish.  The menu will be different each week.  If anyone has a food suggestion they would like to have or bring, please let Karen Brown-Gentz know by e-mail at jkgentz@cableone.net or by phone 620-366-0789.
