The Empire Football League is proud to announce the Watertown Red & Black as their 2009 EFL Champions. Watertown (11-1) won their Empire Football League title Saturday night over the Plattsburgh North Stars (9-4) by a score of 6 - 0. Saturday night's win brought Watertown its first Empire Football League title since 1980 erasing painful memories of championship disappointments from 2003, 2006, and 2007. More than 3,000 fans showed up to the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds to witness a coveted victory in the 113-year history of the nation's oldest semipro team.
