With additional leagues chartering in the area, and the Temporary Re-Merger of "West Emerald Valley Little League" and "Bethel Little League," the 2008 General Membership Meeting unanimously voted to change the name -
making the program more easily identified with the community it serves .... (with Sheldon Little League - chartered in 2006 - now serving the boundaries of Sheldon High School  - also within the city of Eugene.)
 " Eugene Little League"
partnering your community with the largest Child Development Program in the world that uses youth sports as its 'vehicle' of instruction - including:
Co-ed Tee-Ball
Co-ed Baseball - Coach Pitch Minors, Player Pitch Minors, Majors, Juniors, Seniors and Big League
Girls' Softball - Coach Pitch Minors, Player Pitch Minors, Majors, Juniors, Seniors and Big League
and Little League's "adaptive baseball" program - the Challenger Division for children with "special needs."  Check out the "My Site News" page for more information about the Challenger program.

THE 2009 DISTRICT-WIDE RULES FOR OREGON DISTRICT 9 ARE INCLUDED ON THE 'MY SITE NEWS.'  PLEASE REVIEW AS THESE ARE SPECIFIC TO THE ENTIRE DISTRICT AND TO THE DIVISION YOU OR YOUR CHILD WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN FOR THE 2009 SEASON.  These rules are in place for all in-league, interleaguing, and District-9 team special games held this season.

To register for participation, Little League requires the child be of the appropriate age and legally reside within the boundaries of the league they are applying to.  At registration, three proof of residence documents and the child's government-issued birth certificate (original or government-issued certified copy) must be "viewed."   (Likewise, leagues can only register players who legally reside within 'their boundaries.')

"LEAGUE AGE" - AGE REQUIREMENT --
Beginning with the 2006 season, Little League and all other national Baseball and Softball programs moved to a 'universal' date for age determination of their players. For Baseball, the age is determined by their age on April 30th of the current season.  For Girls' Softball, it is determined by the player's age on the most prior December 31st.

TO PARTICIPATE IN Co-ed TEE-BALL & BASEBALL IN 2009 -

     birthdates MAY 1, 1990 through APRIL 30, 2004.

TO PARTICIPATE IN GIRLS’ SOFTBALL IN 2009 -
          birthdates JANUARY 1, 1990 through DECEMBER 31, 2003.

TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CHALLENGER DIVISION® ("physically and/or mentally challenged youth") –
          birthdates May 1, 1988 through April 30, 2004.
"Challenger Division children may participate from Age 5 through graduation from their high school program - generally age 21.  Click HERE to contact the District Representative or visit the District website/"Adaptive Baseball" Challenger Division link. * Depending on theindividual's 'disability,' there is a possibility an older individual could register and/or continue participation in this division.

Within Little League, families are required to register with the league whose boundaries they reside within.   In addition to "Eugene Little League," area programs chartered with Little League Baseball and Softball as of the 2009 season are listed below.
