EM Braves--- 2011 Season Champions
Tuesday, May 24
It was great to see many of our Braves Alumni come back to watch us play in the end of season Tournament.
Pictured below is 2nd Lt. Bryan West, who played catcher and pitcher for the Braves ten years ago. He just graduated from Virginia Tech and is headed to Pensecola to serve in the United States Air Force. Coach Brannen found his old jersey #25 and presented it to him after our Championship game last night. We all wish Bryan well as he goes off into the wild blue yonder!

Congratulations to Jason for winning our 2011 baseball trivia game. He won the tie-breaker by answering first by less than 5 minutes. Jason and Jeff were neck-to-neck all season long, Jason ending with 42 total runs and Jeff with 41 total runs. Joey finished third with 26 total runs. Jason took home the $20.00 Brusters gift card, Jeff earned a $10.00 Brusters gift card, and Joey got a $5.00 Brusters gift card.
Everyone who participated was a winner! You earned various prizes throughout the season and Tootsie Pops at the end for each total run scored. You might have even learned a few things that you never knew before. Thanks to all who played the game.
By the way, the answer to the tie-breaker... Charlie Gould recorded the first Grand Slam homerun in 1871 while playing for the old National Association; However, the first Grand Slam recognized by the MLB was a "walk-off" homer hit by Roger Connor in 1881, while playing for the Troy Trojans.

Who hit the first Grand Slam in Major League history? It was a "walk-off" homer. (No, the answer is not Joey B.)
The prize for this tie-breaker is your choice of one item from the "left-over" bucket for each run scored. The bucket is jammed full with unclaimed prizes!
The Game is over when the Tournament Championship game begins on Monday night. Winners to be announced after the game.

In 1957, Monterrey Mexico became the first non-US team to win the Little League World Series. In that same Series, pitcher Angel Macias pitched the first perfect game in a Championship final.
Jeff scored first (at 1:30 AM) and earned 6 runs, then Jason with 5 runs, Andrew with 4 runs, Will with 3 runs, Joey with 2 runs, and Brian with 2 runs.
The score is now tied, so, we will have an extra inning tie-breaker question coming up very soon.
The score through six complete innings is Jason and Jeff tied at 38 runs, Joey- 25 runs, Andrew- 21 runs, Will- 20 runs, Trevor- 18 runs, Jonathan- 18 runs, Brian- 9 runs, Max Wr- 9 runs, Jared- 6 runs, and Cooper- 3runs.
Stay tuned for the extra inning tie-breaker!

The Braves won an exciting final Championship Game over a very tough Indians squad. The Indians came back from a 4-2 deficit to tie the game at 4-4in the top of the sixth. Then, with 2 outs in the bottom of the sixth, Jason R launched his 19th HR of the season to secure the victory. Congratulations Braves!

Braves at Georgia Tech
Our Braves went together to Russ Chandler Stadium this past Saturday afternoon to watch the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defeat the Boston College Eagles. After taking care of business at Milford on Saturday morning, the Braves met at The Varsity for a quick lunch, then got to the field just in time to see the Jackets impressive warm-up drill. It was a great day for baseball.
Are there any future Yellow Jackets in the picture above? You never know!

Former Braves players join in The Little League Pledge
Thanks to everyone for coming out to Braves Alumni Night for our first Playoff Game on Monday night. Some of our parents organized, what we hope will become an annual event, to surprise Coach Brannen. And they certainly did! What an awesome treat to see all of the former Braves Players, Coaches, Team Moms, and Parents! We even had a few friends of the Braves, some of Coach Brannen's former METS and All-Stars, join us. There were players from last year's team, and all the way back to the very first Braves team, in attendance. The former players even joined the current players on the field for The Little League Pledge. It was a memorable and very meaningful night... one that will never be forgotten.
