John Malcolm Heads to West Point

John with his parents, Diana and Jim Malcolm, and EM Braves Coach Brannen

Wheeler HS standout pitcher and former EM Brave, John Malcolm, recently signed to play baseball for and attend the United States Military Academy at WestPoint. John is a great example of what can happen if you keep pursuing your dreams.  When he came to the EM Braves as a 12 year-old, he had not played organized baseball before.  And yet now, just a few short years later, he is poised to play at the collegiate level.

Congratulations John... and a big THANKS for your commitment to serve our country in the Armed Forces!

Walton's Will White Wins!

Leo Mazzone and Will White

Braves Alum, Will White, recently had the opportunity to work with one of the most recognized pitching coaches in the country. Leo Mazzone, the former pitching coach for the Atlanta Braves, was the coach for such notable pitchers as Cy Young Award winners John Smoltz and Tom Glavine, among many others.

Will must have picked up some good tips because, at last count, his pitching record this season for the Walton Raiders JV stands at 5 wins against only 1 close loss.

Off We Go Into The Wild Blue Yonder

It was great to see many of our Braves Alumni come back to watch us play in the end of season Tournament.

Pictured below is 2nd Lt. Bryan West, who played catcher and pitcher for the Braves ten years ago.  He just graduated from Virginia Tech and is headed to Pensecola to serve in the United States Air Force.  Coach Brannen found his old jersey #25 and presented it to him after our Championship game last night.  We all wish Bryan well as he goes off into the wild blue yonder!

Annual Braves Field Trip to Georgia Tech

Braves at Georgia Tech

Our Braves went together to Russ Chandler Stadium this past Saturday afternoon to watch the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defeat the Boston College Eagles.  After taking care of business at Milford on Saturday morning, the Braves met at The Varsity for a quick lunch, then got to the field just in time to see the Jackets impressive warm-up drill.  It was a great day for baseball.

Are there any future Yellow Jackets in the picture above?  You never know!

Braves Alumni Night

Former Braves players join in The Little League Pledge

Thanks to everyone for coming out to Braves Alumni Night for our first Playoff Game on Monday night.  Some of our parents organized, what we hope will become an annual event, to surprise Coach Brannen.  And they certainly did!  What an awesome treat to see all of the former Braves Players, Coaches,  Team Moms, and Parents!  We even had a few friends of the Braves, some of Coach Brannen's former METS and All-Stars, join us.  There were players from last year's team, and all the way back to the very first Braves team, in attendance.  The former players even joined the current players on the field for The Little League Pledge.  It was a memorable and very meaningful night... one that will never be forgotten.

Our Braves honored their Moms with our Annual Mother's Day Game last Saturday.  All of the Moms were presented with a single red rose and lots of hugs and kisses.  We thank them for all that they do for us all year long!
