Recreational Playing Rules
Required uniform= Shin guards, Footwear, Socks, and ABSOLUTELY NO JEWELRY of any kind. Uniforms will distinguish teams during the game and goalkeepers must wear different color jersey.

U4 Age Bracket

Purpose for this bracket is to promote the fitness and coordination of young children. We do not pick future soccer stars at this age. All children are stars, we are here to help them find their shinning light.

*4 players per team on the field
*#3 ball should be used
*4 periods of 6 minutes each, 5 minute halftime
*We ask that coaches start to get children to understand the concept of a field of play. In other words, when they go off the field of play we want them to restart at the touch line where they left the field. Some parents, in this bracket, may kick the ball back into play. Do not worry about it, let the game continue.

U4 Special Rules

*No Goalies. When a goal is scored restart of game is from the center point.
*When game is stopped due to ball out of play it should be restarted, from the point it left the field, with a kick. Opponents should be on their own side of the field.

U6 Age Bracket

Purpose for this bracket is to promote the fitness and coordination of young children. We do not pick future stars at this age. All children are stars, we are here to help them find their shinning light. Another important area of instruction is teaching the parents that they are there to encourage the children but they are not part of the game.
* 4 players per team on the field, 1 being goalkeeper
*#3 ball should be used
*4 periods of 8 minutes each,2 minutes between periods, 5 minute halftime
*We ask that coaches and referees start to get children to understand the concept of a field of play. In other words, when they go off the field of play we want them to restart at the touch line where they left the field. Some parents, in this bracket, may kick the ball back into play. Get the ball and restart the game from the point it left the field.

U6 Special Rules

*Goalies. A parent/coach is encouraged to be down with the goalie. On the field but out of the play is fine.

*No direct kicks therefore no penalty kicks.

*Goal kick - can be taken anywhere inside the penalty area.
*Goal kick - opponent has to be at half way line.

*Throw-ins - Will be taken in the form of a kick at the touch line at the point in whick the ball left the field of play.

*On kick off - same person can't touch the ball twice and the ball must go forward.

U8 Age Bracket

*5 players per team on the field,1 being goalkeeper.
*#3 ball should be used
*4 periods of 10 minutes each,2 minutes between periods,5 minute halftime
*At this age children and parents should be familiar with the field of play. What we are introducing for these players is the idea of a controlled game; i.e. The Referee.
*Players, Parents, and coaches need to understand that without referees our game stops. That is, after U6's we can no longer control the situation (game).
*Coaches must enforce referee respect. This respect comes from all 3 areas; Coaches, Players, and Parents. If the coach sets a good example the players will follow. The parents may need to have their position defined to them; cheer for the kids and leave the referees alone.
*Parents must be instructed to sit on the field opposite the players and be at least 5 feet from the touch line.
*Players should begin learning positions.
*Players should be encouraged to use both feet.
*Players should begin learning how to trap the ball.
*Proper throw-in must be taught.

U8 Special Rules

*No direct kicks therefore no penalty kicks

*Goal kicks - can be taken anywhere inside the penalty area.
*Goal kicks - opponent has to be at least 12 feet away from ball.

*Corner Kicks - Will be taken at this level when the ball is played across the goal line by a defending player. The defending team must be at least 12 feet from the kick.

*Unlimited throw-ins but referee has the right to ask for someone else to take it.

*No offsides but no cherry picking either.

*On kick off same person cannot touch the ball twice and the ball must go forward.

*Each team has the right to have a parent beside the goal, but off the playing field, to assist the goalie

U10 Age Bracket

At this age children and parents are familiar with the field of play and they are familiar with the referees. What we are introducing is the concept of OFF-SIDES and game time substitutions. Offsides is possibly the most misunderstood rule in soccer. For a detailed explanation of offsides, please see a referee.
