SPRING HILL--The No. 4 ranked Saints pulled an upset over the top ranked Chargers in the first round of the Stearns County League South playoffs and the "Keg" traveling trophy was safely returned to its birthplace after a brief week long disappearance. Matt Middendorf, Kevin Kuefler, Steve Mueller, and Dustin Brietbach each went 2-for-4 to lead Elrosa in the win. Eric Schoenberg and Jamie Terres each doubled to lead Spring Hill (14-6). Elrosa starter Aaron Vogt threw a complete game two-hitter as the crafty right-hander carved up the Charger line-up all afternoon. Vogt received great defense all day including a diving grab by Andy Mages in the first inning. The Saints also turned a double-play on a botched suicide squeeze attempt later in the game. The blue and orange knocked out 12 hits on the afternoon off of Charger starter Shawn Schoenberg. Elrosa plays at New Munich at 1:30 p.m. next Sunday with the winner advancing to the Region 15C tournament. Spring Hill plays host to Meire Grove in an elimination game.
