MIDDY SLIDES IN SAFELY IN FRONT OF NATHAN TERRES

The Spring Hill Chargers won the Stearns County League-North division regular season title after holding off late-game rallies by Elrosa on Sunday afternoon in a 9-8 win. The Chargers finish 11-2 in the league, the best in team history.  They were 9-4 in the league in 2007. Elrosa finishes 5-8 in the SCL-North, and they will host Greenwald in a division play-in game on Wednesday, July 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Saints Field.

Spring Hill 9, Elrosa 8

Elrosa's Ethan Vogt belted a two-run home run in the top of the 2nd inning but that was the last lead the Saints would have as Spring Hill answered for 6 runs to take a 7-2 lead. Elrosa cut the lead to 7-6 on a two out two-run single by Weston Wander. The Saints trailed 9-6 to start the top of the 9th as Matt Middendorf led off the inning with a single followed by a single by Kevin Keufler. Wander then ripped a double off the left field wall scoring Middendorf and cutting the lead to 9-7. After a pop out, Dustin Breitbach lifted a sacrifice fly to left scoring Keufler from 3rd. The runner tagging from 2nd base going to 3rd was thrown out at 3rd base by Spring Hill catcher Nathen Terres for the third and final out as another "Keg" game ended in dramatic fashion. Aaron Welle got the pitching win for the Chargers and Breitbach took the hard luck loss on the mound for Saints.
