Saints Blow Lead To Chargers
The Elrosa Saints opened up their 2008 season with a 4-3 loss to the Spring Hill Chargers Sunday afternoon at the always windy Spring Hill Baseball Park.  The Saints led 3-2 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth but a pinch hit homerun from the Chargers Chad Spanier tied the game at 3 and sent the game into extra innings. The Saints failed to capitalize with runners in scoring position in the top of the 10th but Spring Hill's Jamie Terres ripped an RBI double to left center off of Saints releiver Ethan Vogt to score Randy Schoenberg from 2nd base and ultimately give the Chargers the 4-3 extra inning victory. The Saints left 15 runners on base during the game, 10 in scoring position as they failed to get a clutch hit when they needed one. Aaron Vogt threw 3 scoreless innings for the Saints. He was releived by Dustin Breitbach in the 4th, who was then releived by Ethan Vogt (0-1) in the 7th. Offensively, the Saints were led by Ethan Vogt who ripped two solo home runs to left center field. Matt Middendorf went 3 for 4 with two doubles. Jon Olmscheid ripped a double and Matt "Cargo" Bauer had a single as well for the Saints. With the win, the Chargers retain the Traveling Keg Trophy and now lead the Keg rivalry series 3-1. The Saints will open their home schedule next Sunday when they host division rival New Munich at 1:30 p.m. at Saints Field.
