GROVERS SILENCE SAINTS 5-1

| DUSTY HAD 3 HITS ON SUNDAY!

MEIRE GROVE--Mother Nature gave the Elrosa Saints two extra hours of much needed beauty rest and it still didn't help. The Saints received their brand new bat bags and the whole team played as if they were still in the bag from Saturday's night wedding festivities as they lost 5-1 to Meire Grove. The Saints now sit at 1-3 in the SCL North and have already begun printing "Play In Game" t-shirts for their much anticipated pre-playoff contest before Regions. The Saints got on the board first as Mike Whittemore singled in Steve Mueller in top of the second inning for the team's only run. Whittemore started on the mound and consistently pitched out of jams until the wheels finally fell off in the fifth inning. As the Saints tried to clear the cob webs, Eric Marthaler cleared the bases on a two out double to short right center as the orange and navy circus officially entered town. On a positive note, Dustin Breitbach pretended it was the state tourney as the recent fiancee smashed three hits while still trying to figure out which karoke tune he sang the previous night. The Saints will travel to Richmond on Saturday for a contest with the Royals and then road trip home for the annual Middy and Chugger Show brought to you by DJ Welle. Sunday the Saints celebrate Monkey Days as Blackhawk and 32 Below come to town for a concert at the Elrosa Softball Field. Congratuations to Matt "Gumbi" Bauer on his wedding and to Darrin "Chugger" Wander on his recent college graduation.

NEW PANTS CAN'T SAVE SAINTS

| JONNY CONNECTED FOR HIS 2ND HOMERUN!

NEW MUNICH--Despite getting their first new sets of pants in over a decade, the Elrosa Saints couldn't escape New Munich with a victory. Elrosa jumped out to an early 3-0 lead highlighted by Jonny Olmscheid's second home run of the summer but the Silverstreaks rallied to tie the game in the seventh inning and punched across the winning run in the ninth to beat the Saints 6-5 Sunday afternoon in New Munich. The Saints outhit the Streaks and put enough runs on the scoreboard to win the game but a number of errors in the late innings cost the Saints a victory. Ethan Vogt pitched seven solid innings before giving way to Dustin Breitbach who suffered the hard luck loss. Breitbach, Olmscheid, and Mike Whittemore each had run scoring singles while Matt Middendorf added three hits. The Saints will celebrate Matt "Gumbi" Bauer's wedding this Saturday and then will travel to Meire Grove on Sunday for a contest with the Grovers.

| PAT HIT A HOMERUN TO LEAD OFF THE GAME!

Elrosa 7, Greenwald 1
GREENWALD – Elrosa scored 2 runs in the first inning highlighted by a Pat Illies solo home run to lead off the game as Elrosa topped Greenwald for the umpteenth time in a row. Illies, who inserted himself into the leadoff role because he wanted his big helmet, finished the day 2-for-2 with three walks. Mike Whittemore hit two doubles and Dustin Breitbach went 2-for-4 for the Saints (1-1). Ethan Vogt finished with seven strikeouts in seven innings of work to pick up the win on the mound for the navy and orange. Elrosa jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Greenwald scored in the third inning. Brandon Worms went 2-for-4 with a double to lead the Cubs (0-2). Elrosa will travel to Raymond on Friday to play the Rockets in an exhibition game and then make a convenient stop at Cheers bar to hash out the lineup before they head to Sunday's contest at Farming.
