Elkton Little League Family, Friends and Supporters:

Elkton Little League needs your help to keep costs down while continuing to provide a fun and safe playing environment for our kids. Elkton Little League is a volunteer organization, and no one in our organization is paid. It takes over 2,500 hours of volunteer time to run our Spring season and ensure its success. Volunteer time requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Field clean-up/maintenance
  • Concession stand
  • Umpiring
  • Fundraising
  • Parade Day
  • Picture Day

To help us meet demand associated with volunteer requirements, we have researched local and national programs and found a program called Volunteer Work Bond. The Volunteer Work Bond program has made tremendous improvements to the success and involvement within the organizations that have implemented the program. Our sole objective with implementation of the Volunteer Work Bond is to increase involvement from our Little League Family. Our intention is not to raise money.

The Volunteer Work Bond works by a process by which each family provides a non-cashed/returnable $75 check. This $75 Volunteer Work Bond will be held as collateral against four (4) hours of time spent volunteering in various capacities with the league over the course of the Spring season.

First, each family is required to provide one adult to work two (2) hours in the Concession Stand. It is important that every family work the Concession Stand in order for us to ensure that the stands are opened for all games at all levels. With each family providing two hours in the concession stand, the remaining two hours of time can be obtained during Field Cleanup Days, umpiring a game, or two additional hours in the concession stand. The concession stand is an important fundraiser for Elkton Little League, and is vital to improving the fields, bleachers, dugouts, and bullpens within the complex. As many of you have seen, Elkton has recently installed new bullpens on the Minor A field and extensive upgrades are in process to the T-ball fields.

Signups for volunteering can be done in person during registration, or online starting January 1st, 2014. Click on the VolunteerSpot.com website buttons on the Volunteer Work Bond page of this website.

Please note that if you register online and pay with a credit card, your card will be charged the $75 work bond fee and it will be refunded via a check upon completion of the four hours of volunteer work.

Reserve your spot early to ensure you secure your preferred time. The blocks of time will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. Volunteer work: There will be an information desk set up at the Elkton Little League Complex on all field clean up dates. Each participant is responsible for ensuring they sign in at the information desk to ensure credit gets applied to their required hours.

Field clean-up activities include; raking, painting, weed eating, pressure washing, and infield dragging, to name a few. Your help is needed! Field clean up days: March 22 & 29, and June 14 from 9 a.m. – 1p.m. Questions about the Volunteer Work Bond should be sent to elktoncommunitylittleleague@gmail.com

We are asking that anyone who has an "old" glove or gently used cleats and pants,to please donate them to the League so that players will have the chance to experience Little League Baseball.
