SUMMER Registration now OPEN
Welcome to Eastern Loudoun Basketball League

ELBL SUMMER BASKETBALL

NOTE:  There is no session on Monday, July 6.  Our next camp session will be held on Monday, July 13.

The guest speaker for the second week was Coach Walter Webb.  Coach Webb has an extensive background coaching youth basketball and has won 7 National prep titles while amassing over 680 wins against only 35 losses.  He is currently instructing youth through Lifetime Fitness Center.  He is available for additional instruction by contacting Lifetime Fitness.  Coach Webb taught the players about the proper way to receive a pass in a triple threat position (ready to shoot, dribble, or pass).  Players can practice this skill with a partner, by bouncing the ball off a brick wall, or by using a bounce back net.  Encourage your child to demonstrate this skill for you and practice it throughout the summer.  Repitition is the only way to truly get better at basketball.

Our speaker on July 13 will be Coach Kim Grigley, Park View Girl's varsity coach.  Coach Grigley will teach about the proper technique for boxing out and rebounding.

We began our team competition during week 2.

The guest speaker for the opening session was Coach Mike Koscinski, Park View Boys Varsity Coach.  He taught the players about proper man-to-man (M2M) defense.  The correct stance and positioning for M2M defense can be found at www.coachesclipboard.net/BasicDefense.html.  You can also find some drills at the bottom of this page.  Ask your child to demonstrate the correct stance and have them demonstrate some of the drills they practiced.  Coach K does a wonderful job with the children and I encourage rising 6th-9th grade boys to sign up for his day camp to be held from July 20-24 from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm each day at Park View High School.  To register, visit the Loudoun County Parks and Rec Website  at https://webtrac.loudoun.gov (activity number 721713-01).

Visit this Website each week for updates on speakers, drills and other camp news.

We look forward to seeing all of our players on Monday at 6:00 p.m.
