Three EJHS Female Athletes Receive Jessamine County Honors
On Wednesday, June 18th, three of the East Jessamine girls' basketball players received honors from the Jessamine County Athletics Department for the 2002-03 school year. The first was Ruth Byrd, who was named the Jessamine County Female Underclass Athlete of the Year for her outstanding performance as goalkeeper for the soccer team, and forward on the basketball team. Sofia Ciric received the Jessamine County Female Senior Athlete of the Year for her outstanding achievement as midfielder on the soccer team and as center on the basketball team. Jennifer Peel received the Jim Scobee Award, a new award, honoring former Athletic Director Jim Scobee who passed away earlier this year. Along with this award, Jen received a scholarship. This award highlights a player who always gives 110%, who doesn't mind not being the "star", who helps others on the team and who epitomizes what a true athlete is all about.
Coach McEwan was also named Coach of the Year for a female sport, as head coach of the EJHS Girls Soccer team.
Congratulations to all these recipients!
Erica Stegner Makes 1500 Point Club
On January 24th, Erica Stegner was awarded for scoring over 1500 points while playing for the East Jessamine Lady Jaguars. Erica, who tore her anterior cruciate ligament last month, finished her high school career with a school record 1580 points. Erica received her award during the East/West game, January 24th.
Congratulations Erica! We miss you out there on the court!
