Escambia High Gators:Schedules and Varsity Game Summary

Escambia High Gators

Pine Forest Cruises by Escambia
Written by Kevin Robinson News Journal correspondent

The Pine Forest Eagles handily defeated the Escambia Gators in a one-sided victory, 56-7.

Pine Forest took command of the game early and never let up, punishing the Gators with a relentless ground attack.

Three different Eagles scored rushing touchdowns in the first half to push Pine Forest ahead 35-0 at the half. Trebian Suggs scored on a 22-yard run, Gabriel Moultrie punched one in from 2 yards, and Lorenzo Long broke the goal line twice, on 4- and 5-yard carries, respectively.

The defense also pitched in when it blocked an Escambia punt and Kareem Moore recovered the ball in the end zone for a touchdown before the break.

Pine Forest head coach Jerry Pollard hopes that the Eagles can use their momentum to finish out the season strong.

"There is only one game left. Hopefully we will come out, and play hard, and finish with a win," he said.

The Eagles were officially eliminated from postseason contention with Pace's win against Milton. Pine Forest will wrap up its season with the Panthers next week.

Escambia showed signs of life in the third quarter with a sustained drive that culminated in a 2-yard touchdown run from Deavious Ghee-Moton.

The comeback attempt was short-lived, however. Pine Forest returned the following kickoff to the Escambia 3 yard line, allowing Anthony Boyd to coast in on the next play, making the score 42-7.

The Eagles continued their dominance for the remainder of the game. Quarterback Rashaad Lee used his legs to score from 15 yards, and Suggs found the end zone a second time on a 22 yard run.

Kicker John Cagle was perfect on the night, hitting all eight of his extra point attempts.
