Eastside FC 93 Red Girls: Team History

EFC93RED TEAM HISTORY

U-11   2004 - 2005

EFC93RED first organized in March of 2004 under coach Nancy Turner beginning with the U-11 tryouts held at Issaquah Middle School.  After two more tryout sessions, the first "crop" of 11 girls were selected for the team - Alexis, Cassidy, Celina, Eleni, Gwen, Hannah, Jillian, Katie, Kendall, Lauren and Lindsay.  Within a few weeks, three more girls were promoted up to the Red team - Audrey, Julia, and Tina.  In August, coach Nancy discovered Sydne and she was brought aboard.  And finally, in October of 2004, Molly was promoted from the White team to round out the final U-11 roster at 16 players.  The girls learned a TON and played great.  Although unable to capture a summer tournament championship, they played deep into the State Cup playoffs before being eliminated in the semi-final to the eventual Cup champion.

U-12   2005 - 2006

The U-12 season began, as always, with changes.  Gwen left the club to play at Crossfire, while Alexis, Hannah and Jillian continued on with the White team.  New players included Brittanee who had recently moved to the area from California, and Shannon from the Patriots.  The girls had an exciting summer tournament season, getting their first taste of winning it all at the Marysville 6v6 tournament.  Chanel was brought up from the White team in August, and in October the final U-12 roster of 16 players was completed with the addition of Nicole from the White team. After a good Fall season, the team said farewell to Eleni who moved to the New York City area.  The girls went into State Cup with high hopes but received an unlucky draw into the infamous "bracket of death".  They gave it their all but failed to advance out of bracket play.  NEW! - Click here to see our "Farewell to Eleni" slideshow (you will be asked and you need to accept to download and install the "photodex viewer")

U-13   2006 - 2007

The new season saw Katie and Chanel leaving EFC for other pursuits, while Kendall remained with the White team. Three new players were added after tryouts - Christian (from a local select club), Katinka (from the prior year EFC U-13 B team) and Laura (playing up from the prior year EFC U-11 A team).  The team entered the summer tournament season, excited for their first out-of-state travels ( to Boise and Santa Barbara) and began getting closer and closer to bringing home a championship.  They were a semi-finalist at the Snohomish Invitational, then a Finalist at the Evergreen International.  Finally, at the Rimland Pacific Tournament, the team climbed that last step and won their first major summer tournament - and that was just the start!  The following week they travelled to Santa Barbara and captured their second summer tournament championship in a row!   The fall season began with the addition of Alexa in September from the White team, and the girls had a successful season in the PDL-A league.  State Cup continued to be a source of frustration with the team as they could not advance past the elimination round.

U-14   2007 - 2008

The U-14 year began with lots of roster changes.  Four girls - Lauren, Lindsay, Molly, and Katinka - played with the White team, while Christian left for other interests and Laura moved back down to age with the EFC U-13 A team.  Joining the team after tryouts were Deanna and Alma from Crossfire B, Elise from EFC White, and Emily from EFC White.  The roster of 16 was completed with the addition of Dom in September from the EFC White team.  The girls continued their run of successful summer tournament results by winning, in succession, the Skagit River Cup, Nike Portland Cup, and Evergreen International tournaments.  Their run of 5 championships in a row was interrupted with a semi-finalist showing at the Rimland Pacific Cup.  However, the girls got right back on track by venturing down to southern California to successfully defend their championship at the Santa Barbara Summer Cup!  The fall season saw many ups and downs but ended with a top tier finish guaranteeing their placement in PDL-A for the U-15 Spring League season.   Once again State Cup proved disappointing with a loss in the elimination round.
