No additional fee for online registration.

This year there is no additional online registration fee.  Our online registration service charges us approximately $5 for each child who registers online.  Last year this fee was charged in addition to the registration fee.  This year we decided to raise the registration fee by $5 and not charge the parent the additional online registration fee.

Special Thanks
The league recognizes and appreciates the hard work of the Registration Coordinator, Daryl Gemar; and the Grade Representatives, Steve Barrett, Kevin McCoy, Mark Arnold, and Kurt Erickson.  While it is impossible to grant every request, they have done their best in the difficult job of forming teams.

Opportunity for 9th through 12th Grade Girls
Although EYSA is not offering a 9th through 12th grade division this year.  Richfield is inviting Edina high school girls to play in their slow-pitch league.  Please email us (email@edinasoftball.com) if you may be interested.  We will gauge the interest and may form an "Edina" team (or teams) to play in their league.

Pitching Improvements for 3rd and 4th Grade
To reduce the inactivity on the field due to excessive walks, we have made a change for the 3rd and 4th grade division.  Instead of taking a walk on the third ball (3/2 count) the player will get two swings from a batting tee.  We will still have players pitch and the possiblity of strike-outs -- but walks will be eliminated.  This should increase the flow of the game and make it more fun for the girls.

Pitching Improvements for 1st and 2nd Grade
In an effort to improve fielding activity, batting skills, and the flow of the game, the 1st and 2nd grade division will be using a batting tee at certain times.  During games the girls will use the batting tee for the first inning.  For the remaining innings, the players will hit the ball from the tee if they have not hit it after six pitches from the coach.  We expect the girls to have more fun as the tempo of the game is increased.

7th and 8th Grade "Home" Games

This year we plan to play a number of  7th and 8th grade games on Edina fields.  Due to the number of girls registering  in 7th and 8th grade, we have played with the Richfield girls softball league in recent years.  While it is probable that we will join with them again, some of our games will be played at "home".

Equipment notes
Included in the registration cost is a team jersey (which may not be altered).  Batting helmets, bats, and balls are provided.  Players provide their own gloves and wear either tennis shoes or non-metal cleats.  First and second graders use an Incrediball.  (This ball is a soft 11 inch ball made by Easton.)
