UMPIRING
Special Final Meeting: We have scheduled the last meeting of the year and it strays from our usual routine:
Your final check will be mailed to you only if you turn in a clean jacket and you provide a SASE. SORRY, NO EXCEPTIONS!
Thursday meetings: Every other Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30 at the Harding Clubhouse. We strongly encourage you to attend these bi-weekly meetings. A professional umpire will be at each meeting to answer questions and give you pointers on being a confident, effective umpire. At the meeting, the assignments will be distributed, completed assignment sheets will be collected and paychecks will be distributed. The meeting is also a great time to pick up unclaimed assignments. Our next meeting will be May 28, 2009. Set out below are the FINAL assignments for ALL remaining games in ALL divisions (with the exception of some Pinto games). Pony games - FINAL assignments (all games at Cerrito Vista Field)
Bronco games - (all games at Castro Field)
Mustang Games (all games played at Harding Field) FINAL assignments
Pinto Games - FINAL assignments
ECYB Pinto/Mustang Umpire Guidelines, 2009 Friday before the bi-weekly Thursday meeting: You will receive an e-mail asking you to let me know whether you will be available for the upcoming 2 week period. The deadline to let me know is 6PM Sunday evening. If I do not hear from you by the deadline, I will assume you are not available and you will not be scheduled to umpire any games during that two week period. If you plan to be away for the weekend, you can always e-mail me a little sooner to advise me of your availability. Monday: I will e-mail a tentative schedule. You will be asked to confirm that you accept your assignment(s). The schedule is in excel format; there are two pages, Pinto and Mustang, so be sure to check both schedules. E-mail me your acceptance by Wednesday 6PM. If I do not hear from you by Wednesday @ 6PM, your assignments will be given to another umpire at the Thursday meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting, but accept your assignments, YOU MUST LET ME KNOW. Thursday meeting: 7:30 to 8:30 at the Harding Clubhouse. If for some reason this is not possible, then the umpires may mail or drop off their sheets at 874 Indian Rock, Berkeley, CA 94708. In order for the sheet to be included in the payroll for the Thursday meeting, they must be dropped off by no later than the Monday before the meeting. If sheets come in after Monday, they will be held for processing until the next batch happens. For example, sheets should be turned in by Monday April 13th for payment at the Thursday April 16th meeting. Again, the best way to turn in the sheets is to bring them to the meeting, this alternative is given as a last resort. Please do not submit sheets via e-mail as we will not be accepting sheets submitted by e-mail this year. It proved to be too unwieldy of a process to track the e-mails and be responsible for printing all the sheets out. Most important: Read your e-mail regularly. - - - - - - - - - Available here for download are the umpire assignment sheets that each umpire must download, fill out and take to each game for the managers to sign at game's end.
