Hit-A-Thon and Home Run Derby
Sunday, June 10, 2 PM at Cerrito Vista Park
Hard to believe that the end of the season is coming soon, but it's also time to get your bats
warmed up for the 2012 Hit-a-thon and Home Run Derby. In addition, we will have a barbecue, trophy
ceremonies, dunk tank and a few games.
Money raised last year went toward new
equipment, rebuilding the mound at Central, and fixing the
fields. We ask all players try to raise at least $100 this
year. If we can do this we will be able to put a lot more work into the
fields, replace more of our ailing fleet of catcher's gear, and improve
our uniforms.
Top fundraisers earn great prizes. We have bigger
trophies for the Home Run Derby top three finishers. Last year, the
Mustang Phillies won the top team prize and went to an A's game in
style, watching from a luxury suite.
This is also a final chance for families to earn League Hours for 2012. Sign up to help make the Hit-A-Thon a success!
We are using an online sign up and reminder tool to help organize our event. No registration is required, and VolunteerSpot does not share your email with anyone or does not send spam emails. Click this Volunteer Spot Signup link to help! Note: If you have trouble accessing the site or prefer not to enter your email address – please email cecie_mendoza@yahoo.com and she can sign you up manually.
You can also download the forms (Parent Form or Sponsor Form) or ask your team business manager for them. All of
the info and rules can be found in the forms.
Please contact Scott
Whitney at whitneypi@me.com, or Cecie Mendoza at
cecie_mendoza@yahoo.com, for questions or information.
We look forward to seeing you all at our end of season party!
Bat Size Reminder
Please remember to follow the bat size rules. As our rules state:
1.58 Bat Rules: Wood bats are not allowed due to the risk of being hit by fragments of a broken wood bat.
1.58.1 Shetland and Pinto: Bats stamped “T-Ball” may only be used when a soft “safety” type ball is used. The rules described below for Mustang and Bronco apply to non T-Ball bats used in Shetland and Pinto.
1.58.2 Mustang, and Bronco: Non-composite 2 ¼ or 2 5/8 inch diameter bats are allowed, but no bats larger than 2 5/8 inch in diameter may be used in any ECYB play.
Composite bats must not be greater than 2 ¼ inch diameter. Composite bats must be stamped with a BPF rating of 1.15 and state “Pony Approved” or “approved for play in Pony”, and have the year of manufacture included in the stamp.
ECYB will also allow bats that are listed on Little League’s approved 2 ¼ inch composite bat list, because all of those bats also meet the BPF rating, and are subject to further safety testing conducted by Little League. Their list, which is updated often, is available here:
1.58.3
http://www.littleleague.org/learn/equipment/approvedcompbatssmall.htm.
1.58.4 Pony: Bats approved for use in Mustang and Bronco as described above may also be used in Pony.
In addition, larger, heavier high school bats that have a -3 rating may also be used in Pony if they have a BBCOR rating of 0.5. Some 2 5/8 inch diameter composite bats have this rating too. They may be used in Pony provided they are -3, and meet the BBCOR 0.5 standard.
ECYB will also allow 2 5/8 inch diameter composite bats that are listed on Little League’s approved 2 5/8 inch Juniors composite bat list. The list of 2 5/8 inch diameter composite, -3, bats that area approved by Little League is found at the website shown below.

New Batting Cage
We are making significant progress on the new batting cage at
Cerrito Vista field. We still need your help. If you'd like to donate
money or time to this important cause, please send an email to
or send to ECYB, P.O. Box 194, El Cerrito CA, 94530. Thanks to all of you that provided help so far.
For example, we recently heard from the family of Steve Layne,
former coach and board member with ECYB. We are sad to hear of his
passing, but we're told he was moved by this project and fond memories
of youth baseball and we thank him and his family for their contribution
to this cause.

Important Meetings and Events
All meetings/clinics will be at the Harding Clubhouse. See the full calendar here.
ECYB Board Meetings at Harding Clubhouse every other Wednesday evening from 7:30 - 9:30 PM.
