Summer All-Stars
Are you interested in participating on a Summer All-Star team? If so, you MUST apply online by June 1. It's very simple. Just go to the Clubspaces site at ecyb.clubspaces.com, select “Client Login” at the bottom right corner or "Registration" in the main menu, and use the email address and password you used to register in the fall to enter the system.

This is an opportunity for a select group of kids who played during the regular season to play more baseball on a team with other ECYB kids who exhibit—in the estimation of the managers—a high level of baseball skill, ability, and sportsmanship.

ECYB summer all-star baseball is open only to those who registered and participated in the regular (current) ECYB season. Players, coaches, and managers for ECYB summer all-star teams are not chosen until the end of the regular season, after all managers had an opportunity to see and interact with the kids. Please remember that we have a lot of talented, positive players, so not every child can be put on a team.

Team formation usually begins sometime in early June, with practices and tournaments. Summer all-star ball consists of a series of tournaments held around the Bay Area, such as Fremont, Pittsburg, San Carlos, Concord, and Millbrae. There are also costs to consider, from entry fees, to uniforms. There is a significant commitment of time and effort expected of kids AND parents, so please make sure you are willing to do this before applying.

For more information, please check out the All-Star FAQ’s on the left menu.

Hit-A-Thon and Home Run Derby
Sunday, June 10, 2 PM at Cerrito Vista Park

The end of the year is near, so it's time for our super fun end of season party, the Hit-a-thon and Home Run Derby. Hopefully by now you all are well into raising pledges. Last year we raised about $7,500, helping us fix up fields, add a pitching mound to Central, and buy much needed new equipment for the teams. We are hoping to raise even more money this year for similar projects.

We hope you will have your pledges collected early. If you have pledges and are ready to hit, please contact your Team Business Manger. If there are enough team members on your team, your manager will have you hit off a tee in practice to get your hit-a-thon distance. If you can't do it there, not to worry, you can still do it at the Hit-A-Thon.

We have exciting prizes for top fund raisers, including tickets to MLB games this summer and a luxury Suite for the highest fund raising team. We will also give out a very cool T shirt to every player who raises at least $100.

The shirt was designed by our very own Sean Robertson, and printed by GBear Prints owned and operated by ECYB's Worley family. Thanks to them for making this happen!

We will also host the Home Run Derby after the hit-a-thon activities. Same rules apply this year, but we may shorten the distances a bit to encourage more home runs. Trophies will be awarded again to first through third place. A silver slugger award will be given out to the player who hits the most home runs in the league regardless of their division. Last year's winner was Ansel Carson from Pinto Divison, now with the Mustang Tigers. His name will be engraved on this year's trophy bat.

Players from every Division are eligible and there will also be an adult division. Adults will be characterized as 18 to almost dead. If there is a large number of interested 15-18 year olds we will open a special division for them. If a player participates in the hit-a-thon there is no entry fee for the Derby, otherwise there is a $50 entry fee.

In addition to the Hit-a-thon and Derby there will also be great food and a Jamba juice booth selling smoothies to everyone. Kids participating in the hit-a-thon will receive a lunch.

New to the hit-a-thon is a Dunk Tank. We hope to have managers and coaches sit in the tank and take your best shot. This will be a very fun activity for the players. We will also have a Jamba juice booth selling smoothies.

If you can help, we are using an online sign up and reminder tool to help organize our event. No registration is required, and VolunteerSpot does not share your email with anyone or does not send spam emails. Click this Volunteer Spot Signup link to help! Note: If you have trouble accessing the site or prefer not to enter your email address – please email cecie_mendoza@yahoo.com and she can sign you up manually.

You can also download the forms (Parent Form or Sponsor Form) or ask your team business manager for them. All of the info and rules can be found in the forms.

Please contact Scott Whitney at whitneypi@me.com, or Cecie Mendoza at cecie_mendoza@yahoo.com, for questions or information.

We look forward to seeing you all at our end of season party!

New Batting Cage

We are making significant progress on the new batting cage at Cerrito Vista field. We still need your help. If you'd like to donate money or time to this important cause, please send an email to
or send to ECYB, P.O. Box 194, El Cerrito CA, 94530. Thanks to all of you that provided help so far.

For example, we recently heard from the family of Steve Layne, former coach and board member with ECYB. We are sad to hear of his passing, but we're told he was moved by this project and fond memories of youth baseball and we thank him and his family for their contribution to this cause.
