Cheerleading FAQS
Below is a list of the most common questions asked by cheer parents. If you do not see your question please contact the cheer coordinator and she will help you get the answers you need.
Q Who will coach the cheer squads?A Just like football, cheer coaches are parent volunteers. There is no experience required and parents will be trained and taught the cheers before the season at the coaches meeting. Squads can only be formed if we have volunteers to coach. Please consider coaching your daughter’s squad. PLEASE CONTACT:Lee Burnett at burnett5@bellsouth.net orMelissa Caamano at Melissa_a_caamano@yahoo.com
Q How does my daughter get sized for her uniform?
A Elite Sports of East Cobb in Marietta will be doing in store fittings during
June on WEDNESDAYS and SATURDAYS ONLY during regular store hours.
Q Will my daughter have a uniform on the first game day if I wait to register until June?
A Because of the time it takes to make and ship uniforms we must order by June
1st. We always anticipate girls registering later in the summer so a limited number of uniforms are ordered. These uniforms will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
Q When can I pick up my uniform and equipment?
A Equipment pick up dates will be posted on our website’s home page as soon as
they are determined in July. An email will also be sent out to all registered
cheerleaders.
Q Can my daughter cheer for her brother or can my daughters cheer together?
A Yes, we do allow girls to cheer for/with siblings if a squad has been formed.
Division 1 teams will be given priority. If a sibling has a brother playing
On a Division 2 team then a squad will be formed if enough girls and coaches
are available.
Q Does it cost more to cheer than registration?
A Yes
* A $25 fee will be collected by the squad mom to cover goodie bags, banners
and spirit treats throughout season. Any money left over from that collection
will be applied toward the end of season banquet.
* Cheer shoes and hair bows are purchased separately by parents.
* Banquets are paid for from fundraising dollars- the more money raised by
squads means less money if any that will be paid by parents.
Q Will cheerleaders go to competitions?
A At the beginning of the season you will receive a form to fill out if you would like
to be considered for a competition squad. Based on interest and availablility of a
coach will form a competition squad that will compete in at least one local
competition but no more than three. There will be an additional charge for
competition to cover registration costs , makeup, spirit banners etc. Watch the website for additional information and estimated costs. Details will be
coming as we get closer to the opening of the season.
Q What kind of shoes and hairbows do the cheerleaders need.
A Parents will purchase shoes and bows separately. Your daughter’s coach will advise you to which shoe and bow is needed.
Q Are cheer parents required to do volunteer work for the league?
A Yes each cheer parent will work the spirit wear booth at least once during the
season.
