EASTON LITTLE LEAGUE ANNOUNCES 2015 PLAYER REGISTRATION DATES

The Easton Little League Board of Directors is pleased to announce its player registration dates for the 2015 baseball and softball seasons.  We will conduct registrations for all players, from T-Ball through Senior League, on Saturday, January 17; Saturday, January 24 and Saturday, January 31.  Each of our registration sessions will be held at the Talbot County Operations Center, located at 605 Port Street in Easton, and all will be conducted from 9 a.m. to noon.

We will have preprinted player registration and medical release forms available at registrations for all players who were in our system last year.  All we will ask you to do is confirm that all of the information on those forms remains accurate, and to make any necessary corrections or changes.  For those who did not play last season, no worries - we will have downloadable forms available online, and hard copies at player registrations.  In addition to completing the player registration forms, our new players will also be asked to provide a birth certificate in order to verify age, as well as three proofs of residency, such as a driver's license, a utility or cable bill, or a vehicle registration.

We are proud to announce that, despite the rising costs of operation and despite making substantial investments over the past year in field improvements, ballpark enhancements, player equipment and even paid umpires, we will keep our player registration fees unchanged in 2015.  Players in our T-Ball, AA and 7-8 girls' softball will stay pay just $50 to play ball in 2015, while those in our AAA, Little League Boys, 9-10 and 11-12 softball, and Junior and Senior Leagues will only pay $75.  We are proud of our efforts to manage our resources efficiently in 2014, and particularly grateful to more than 40 community sponsors who came through with financial support of our programs this year.

Please make note of two important, recent developments.  First is the fact that, once again, players who reside outside of Easton Little League's official boundaries will be able to play in Easton Little League if they attend school within our boundaries.  To verify enrollment, players will need to complete and submit an official school enrollment form - one that is also signed by that school's principal, vice-principal or other appropriate administrator - confirming that they were enrolled in the school prior to October 1, 2014.

Second is a more recent decision by Little League International to change the age calculation date for all baseball players born after January 1, 2006.  Effective immediately, all baseball players born after January 1, 2006 shall base their "league age" for the upcoming season - which is used to determine eligibility for the League and specific divisions - on their age as of December 31 of that year, as opposed to April 30.  Meaning, for example, that players who were born in July 2006 and, under the old system, would have been "league age 8" will now be considered "league age 9."  Please note that players that were born prior to January 1, 2006 will continue to use the April 30 age determination date for the remainder of their Little League careers.  Should you have any questions or need additional information about this rule change, please contact League President Len Foxwell at lenfoxwell@gmail.com, or Player Agent Lauren Halterman at lhalterman@chesapeake.edu.

Thank you for your participation and support of Easton Little League.  Have a safe and enjoyable holiday season!
