7/8 TEAMS
Both 7/8 teams post winning records
at the spring vacation break!
After 4 games to start the season, both our 7/8 Cardinal and Black teams have 3-1 records. Both teams have faced formidable competition and have posted victories against some of the strongest eastside programs.
The Cardinal team started the season 3-0 before falling to Woodinville in a tough battle. The team had lost decisevely to Woodinville in a preseasosn tournament game 10 - 2. The loss helped the team gauge and address weaknesses. Improving significantly on defense, ground balls, face offs and clears, the game was tied 1-1 at half. Woodinville proved to be the stronger team putting up 4 unanswered goals in the second half. Lots of shooting practice over spring break and the team should get back to our winning ways.
The Black team started the season with a loss and then won the next three beating Bellevue, Mercer Island and Northshore. Coach Henderson has the team believing and working hard on steady improvement.

7TH AND 8TH GRADE TEAM
Players not selected for the Cardinal A Team will have the opportunity to participate on our other 7/8 Team. The team will play at the GELL 7/8 level and the player commitment level and coach expectations for excellence will be very high. For 7th graders on this team, it is expected that each will demonstrate a commitment and dedication to improvement with the goal of making the CARDINAL A team as 8th graders.
Registration fees for the 7/8 teams is $385.00. Fees include a full Eastlake uniform along with a reversible practice jersey. Teams will typically practice on turf fields (most often at Eastlake High School).
GAME PLAYING TIME
At the 7/8 level game playing
time is earned through the effort and skill level displayed at
practices. It is our philosophy that each player controls their own
destiny. For those that are dedicated to improvement, more playing time
will be the natural outcome. Attitude, effort, hustle and skill
development are key factors and are completely determined by the
player. For those that practice hard, both at our scheduled practices
and at home, your coaches will recognize your improvement and reward it
with greater playing time. Lacrosse is a sport in which you don't have
to be the biggest, the strongest or the fastest - if you work hard you
will be successful. It is your personal commitment that will make the
difference.
7/8 SEASON OVERVIEW
Teams will practice 2 times per week
starting in January and expanding to 3 times per week in February. Practice schedules will be posted
on the CALENDAR page of the website.
We will
compete in at least 10 games on most Saturdays between March and May.
Our coaching philosophy has these key areas of focus:
1. Develop and master fundamental individual skills, emphasizing proper technique and utilization of both the right and left hands.
- Throwing, catching, groundball mastery
- Breaking down defenders
- Shooting (generating power / faking / on the run / off the dodge)
- Offensive motion, plays, off-ball movement
- Defensive schemes, positions, rotations, slides
- 100% effort, 100% of the time
2. Coach team play with the roles and responsibilities required to be an effective and cooperative teammate. Advanced development of offensive and defensive formation and coordination.3. Dedication to improvement: work ethic, practice, hustle, focus, attitude and leadership. Increased emphasis on conditioning and nutrition for overall health and well being.4. Teach game rules, equipment care, respect for opponents, coaches, teammates and referees, and safety on the lacrosse field.5. Introduction, preparation, coordination and transition with the Eastlake High School program.
6. Make the experience fun and exciting so that players develop and maintain a lifelong love of the game.
